Using OEM top mount
Hello guys? Im thinking of going coilovers but i am not looking to camber at all other than natural camber, can the top hats on any coilovers available for the n54 be swapped to OEM top hats?. Reason i want to use that is it takes away the clunks and noise most coils make.
Tein seem to use OEM top for some of theirs with other platforms and correct me if im wrong but it seem blisteins does as well

Stock top hats are used or reused for most every coil over kit out there. Getting new top hats and fasteners will make the install process much faster and easier by not having to move the old setup to the new.

You might need to get upper spring perches that match the spring diameter. ECS Tuning or TC Klein should have something that fits. Example linked below for a 60mm diameter spring.

I'm not familiar with the BC camber plates, so maybe you can reuse the spring mount. I doubt it so that's why I suggested the new spring mount / perch for use with the OEM top hats.

NOT increasing the amount of negative camber in the front while doing suspension work should be considered a crime.
If you're trying to avoid headaches, why not just go with a "nice" spring/damper setup? Limiting your coilover choices to only those that utilize stock top mounts probably removes all the worthwhile options from the equation altogether. |

Well car cambers naturally but the top hats just allow you to adjust that based on how low you go you can straighten them out... Honestly its not even for function, it is soley for ride comfort and reliability... I dont want to deal with the clunking noise. Ive owned owned a good list of coilovers before
Ksports- wouldnt wish it on my enemy D2 - exact same as K sport just purple JIC - amazing Tein SS - most comfortable and relible coils ive ever owned Megan- better than others just middle of the pack. I love the way my tein was set up and if the e90 had a more affordable option id buy it in 1 second.. They dont. Blistein seem like the next most comfortable option, i dont want a stiffer or more aggressive ride. I actually want a similar or softer ride than stock just lower |
