335i brake fluid change?
My 335i is bothering me to change the brake fluid, but I checked the brake fluid and it looks really clean. Do I actually have to change it? It's possible that it was changed by the previous owner (brakes were all done by the dealer recently he said) and just not reset but I doubt it.

I change the brake fluid the poor man's way every two years. With a turkey baster I suck out the brake fluid in the master cylinder and replace it with fresh fluid. Drive the car around for a while and do it again a week later. Not a perfect solution but cheap and easy to do.

I highly recommend changing the brake fluid at the recommended intervals. Brake fluid absorbs water which causes it to break down and makes it no longer suited to be used in a hydraulic system. Also heat can break down the brake fluid. If the previous owner had the brakes serviced at a dealer id assume they would reset the reminder and it cant hurt to do it anyways. The procedure i do it suck as much as you can out of the master cylinder and replace it with new fluid. Then start with the R/R, L/R, R/F, L/F
Side note, make sure you use DOT4 fluid and not DOT3 |
