What else needed with coilovers?

Do I need to get sway bar end links or any other suspension parts when installing coilovers? Anything else prone to early failure when you drop the car about and inch? Thanks!

Depends on the coilovers you went with. I believe most come with everything you need for this platform. If you're close to or over 100k miles bushings may be an issue. I'd also recommend a set with camber plates included for more control and adjustability.

I've had STs and I didn't need anything extra. If you live in an area that experiences snow where road salt will be an issue, I'd suggest KWs. STs and KWs are pretty much the same with the exception of the steel used. STs will rust over time with exposure to road salt, snow and lots of rain.

Put on STs this weekend. Don't need anything extra (you may want to replace things like strut mounts), but check that you have all the needed tools. Make absolutely sure you have an 18mm socket (hopefully impact rated deep-well) and wrench in your toolkit, as most socket and wrench sets skip over that size. The strut nut socket (22mm) from ECS is a good idea. An impact gun will make your life much easier.

I put some coats of clear over the shock bodies, then boeshield the threads to minimize corrosion concerns.

Thanks, great feedback. Coats of clear what? What is beoshield? For strut mounts do you mean front upper?

I put on clear wheel paint on the strut. Boeshield (B9?) is an anti corrosion lubricant.

I replaced the front upper mounts, the rear lower and both rear upper mounts. Cheap insurance for everything to ride well.

+1 got ST and replaced front strut mounts with Lemforder, rear top and lower mounts with Monroe. (The rear top Monroe mount was much firmer than the stock)

coming from the VW world, everyone replaced swaybar end links because the lowering put them out of their normal range of motion. So no one is doing that with coilovers on e90s?
