Thanks for this DIY. According to what I've read on the Mobius site, the super capacitor will keep the internal clock running for 10 days, so this might fix the date time issue.

Bumping this back up. Ordered the covers and camera. Pawlin, are you running the Power Magic to the battery?

No I'm not. Current draw is negligible if you're daily-ing the car. Might be a different story if you're not driving it regularly or have got a weak battery.

Heh, it's held up for the past two years with no issues so no I didn't spend any more time trying to improve it. But by all means please share for others if you do something different!

So buyer beware, thought I bought a great deal on a Mobius on Amazon... bought from an untrusted seller.
Apparently there are counterfeit cameras. Wouldn't config when connected to the PC, syscfg.txt wouldn't download properly and the app reports back it's a fake. |

I haven't had any problems with it, but you have to remember to switch your iPhone/iPad/Android/Tablet over to the Camera's access point before bringing up the app... my devices do not seem to automatically switch over as they do with other access points. While connected your device cannot use WiFi for Internet purposes. Mine did not come with the module, so it is hard wired to the fuse box. The run down to the fuse box is easy to do. The camera continues to record for about 20-30 minutes after the car is turned off, until the car enters sleep mode. |

Could you use this with a blend-a-mount that is holding a radar detector?

Just finished installing this. I used a Garmin Dashcam Mini and it barely fit cuz I also need to fit in a 12V-to-5V converter and a USB_A-to-microUSB adapter. I also tapped power and ground off the mirror connector. Pin 3 (Green/White wire) is switched 12V and Pin 10 (Brown/Black wire) is ground. I decided to skip Park Mode, which is why I'm connected to the switched 12V. Anyway, I think it came out pretty well:
Oh yeah, I also had to trim the housing's opening (using a rotary tool) in order for the camera lens to fit through. Cheers, Marcus Last edited by jookydrinker; 10-13-2020 at 06:41 PM.. |

No issues with overheating, although it does get pretty warm. Changing the SD card would be a big hassle as the whole assembly has to come apart (it was a tight squeeze to fit the camera and its wiring). I used a high endurance SD card, and haven't found a need to change it yet. You can also wirelessly copy videos to your phone using the garmin app, although it's pretty slow.
