NJ gas pumps

If an idiot at the pump spills the gas over can you dispute the cc charge?

My thinking is, Sunoco provides a product not only an amount of gas but gas pumped into your tank, so they failed to do deliver that. They pumped it over the car, their equipment is malfunctioning and I refuse to pay for that. I actually called American Express and they said I could dispute it when it shows up on tha account, dont know the possible outcome yet.

yea you can dispute it but they way you say it is that you paid for something and got something different. i dont know how you would apply this to over spillage, but in my case, i got water instead of gas.. lol so i could have disputed it if the owner of the station didnt pay, but alas he is so...end of that.

Did he pay you for the pump? If not file a complaint in small claims court, all it takes is $10-15 filing fee and 10 minutes of your time. This is arbitrage and you dont need an iron prove, if an arbitrator believes you case is yours. Besides they always try to settle before the court.

Reviving an old thread to rant:

Asked for a fill up on 93; after I drove off and took a peek at the receipt, I realized he filled it up with 87.

I hate pumping gas in NJ. Yea, it's cheaper, but you got gas attendants who could care less.

This happened at the Sunoco off Palisades Ave in Fort Lee, NJ.

LOL, hilarious description but I guess it's true. If you want him to stop as soon as it clicks, you can ask him not to top it off before he starts pumping.

I don't get the point of them topping it off to an even dollar amount when you pay by credit card, there's no point. I always pump the gas myself though, sometimes I have to be quick to get there before the attendant.
