BMW CCA LA Auto-x - EXCITING EVENT

Read it here first folks... On Sunday August 16, 2009 BMW CCA LA will hold an auto-x at Streets of Willow. This is a first for our chapter (in recent memory). It is NOT a HPDE, nor an open track day. It is NOT a time trial. This will be an auto-x in the traditional sense, but will take place on a race track.

Due to the cost associated with the venue, registration is $100 ($110 if you procrastinate and pay the day of) with a fee of $10 to rent a helmet. Extra lunches are $10 each. Your fee pays for track rental, fire/safety, lunch, water and instruction. This is a screaming good deal and a great way to try your skills on a track.

We plan to run clockwise, including the bowl. To keep speeds down we will not use the skid pad and we will place cones on the two straights. Because of this convertibles are allowed but discouraged.

Gates open at 7:00 and first car out will be 9:00. We will have 4 run groups which will be randomly assigned. Since this is not a HPDE there is no need for novice, intermediate and advanced groups. Beginners are most welcomed.

Please note this is event is an experiment. Based on how it goes we may or may not hold more auto-x's at Streets next year. Come help us make it a great success!

To register go to https://axwaresystems.com/axorm/calendar_main.php

See you all there!

Damn. I want to go. I NEED to go. Let me see what sort of magical rabbit I can pull with the Missus.

I'll probably sign up just in case...I'm "scheduled" to go to Thunderhill the weekend prior. If, god forbid, I didn't get invited for THill I'd be all over this.

Why don't you bring the Missus? I might bring mine...admittedly kicking and screaming, but still...

Correct! I have no idea how the timing equipment will handle it, but that is why the event is an experiment. As such I am not promising accurate timing or results.

My plan during the timed runs is to send 4 cars out at the same time and let them run 3 consecutive timed laps without stopping. But since we don't have transponders (we use start/stop lights) the cars on timed runs can't pass each other. This really sucks if you are the faster car and catch the slower car.

We may have to adjust that as we go but we will do our best!

Based on this post...if you are under 18 they need to be there to sign the parental consent.

As to hotels, you can stay at the Motel 6 in Lancaster. It is acceptable.

See you there!

Yea, we sign it for the SD autocrosses all the time, and my dad will be up there anyway.

Thanks for the concern.

Yeah, but it's a convenient stop on the way back up.

There are only 11 spaces left in this event. As it stands there are very few e9x's signed-up. Unlike our last event, where the majority of entries were in the C (stock 6, 8 and 12 cylinder) Class, this one is mostly X class (non-BMW's). We have a Viper, an Elise, a bunch of Evos, and a LOT of M Modified cars.

Let's see some 335i's showing what's what!

Awesome! Hopefully you will enjoy it!

We are offering $10 off the September 6th Auto-x at Cal Speedway for people who attend SOW! Just thought I'd mention it...
