E39 M5 Steering Wheel Vibration
I have vibration coming from my steering wheel at 50mph upwards. Put new tyres on the front and had wheels rebalanced on the weekend and they pointed out I have very slight buckles in both front wheels and there is a little play in the ball joints too so not sure which way to do this!
They suggested if the rebalancing doesnt work then it will be new rims! OEM are 450 each so contacted TheWheelSpecialist who have said they can fix it at a cost of £65+VAT. I am in Jersey and we dont have specialists here that can do that. Has anyone encountered such problems? Any help would be great... |

if the ball joint are bad why wound they rec rims (which they should have road forced check/force matched)? 1st find a good shop, verify the suspension condition (front joint not so much but the rear joint and arm wear more) and start with obvious play. then I would start with center link, idler and tie rods. Then tension bushing (better yet monoballs), tires and rims

If the wheels aren't cracked or excessively damaged, have them straightened or buy some used ones on eBay. Lots of places that can straighten wheels, even if you have to ship them off I'd imagine that's cheaper than buying new ones.
Bad suspension parts will definitely cause vibrations so very likely you have two issues here but it sounds like you've been given the diagnosis. I'm sure NY has a lot of shops which is closer than UK |
