Question Upgrade to Logic 7

Hi Everyone,

Glad to join this community. I have an E92 with Logic 7 that i purchased a few months ago very excitedly due to the colour combo and the sound system because the reviews indicated that Logic 7 is stellar. My E Class has Logic 7 as well which is quite potent but the system in the BMW just seems flat. The sound lacks richness and depth whereas the HK in the Merc feels much better.

I have tweaked the EQ settings endlessly but have not encountered a grouping that works for my musical taste. I listen to a lot of Qawwali/Bhangra and classic rock.

My previous 328 had the Match7 Amp upgrade and that made a difference though it was pricey.

I am considering upgrading the Logic 7 speakers to Audison and the underseat subs but any advice would be highly appreciated. Is it worth going this route? Am I just burning money?

Thank You!

Logic 7 system in a BMW is not that good.
Plenty of people think this.
At best it's the least offensive of there systems till you go for there
exotic system's
Rated power is at 10 percent distortion.
The BMW 7 amp and DSP beats the pants of it.
Mobridge makes a drop in amp/dsp that will except the Most Inputs.

The following thread shows what one guy found and gives the output
chip specs of Logic 7 aka Hk aka Top Hi Fi (down around entry 18 are chip spec pdf's)
And they use 2 ohm speakers to achieve this in some positions.
Everything except floors are 2 ohm so the 40 watts is actually 25 against 4 ohms.

There are many speakers that will fit at a wide price range.

High End
Morels for doors
Jehnert Xe 200's for floors.

mosconi/gladen also has some good stuff.
more moderately priced speakers and high quality amp/dsp's

If you read the sticky link on upgrades there is a speaker guide link though it's
somewhat dated.

To make these sing you need that BMW7 or equivalent.

Read the first few of these links at least.

Thanks for this.

If I understand correctly, just changing the speakers to Audison will not have an impact as you're suggesting that the amp be changed to Match7?

If you go with just changing the speakers you still have the output
of a lowsy amp that has high distortion specs.
If you put on 4 ohm speakers you will have 25 watts per channel with 10 percent distortion
per speaker location.
Sounds like you are used to good stuff don't think you will be satisfied
with minor improvements.

Something with enough channels (depending on how many you want
to run )and decent specs. The audiotech fisher stuff is really good
You will also either have to get a Most to analog converter or
reprogram the Head Unit to output Hi fi and Run analog outputs
to the new amp .

Also will require a Harness .

Technicpnp.com makes the ones that are commonly used there.

Hi ctuna

Is adding an additional amplifier to power the underseat subs and front speakers an option? I think that's been mentioned on the forums as a possibility-Will that make a difference when coupled with the stock amplifier? Or is the coding constraint the limiting factor?

When people amp the underseats they only usually run the speakers outs
into the high level Inputs on the new amp so no coding required.
into whatever amp that is supplying the under seats.
But is doesn't upgrade the other speakers sound .
Its really a mess to upgrade this because of the number of speakers.

If you get into partial upgrades you may be just chasing your tail trying to find
the sound you want which will be more expensive in the long run.

Hi Ctuna,

I've done tons of research and going with adding a 2 channel amplifier to power the underseats as well as adding a centre tweeter. I hope this improves the system enough to make it punchy and adds much needed warmth

Thanks for all of your help!

FYI - the BMW Individual center is a drop in component and well worth the upgrade. Indeed all of the drivers are!
