Question Brake Pads Worn to Minimum Thickness warning but FRONT & REAR OKAY / HELP!!

This morning I started up my car and this warning came up on my iDrive along with the red BRAKE light in the instrument cluster:
"Brake pads worn to minimum thickness"

I find this confusing because both the front and rear service intervals are still NOT reached in the service info section. The fronts have 11K left and the rears have over 3K.

If it is a sensor, which wheels are they located on?

2006 330i
84,600 miles

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

sensors are on LF and RR wheels. How thick are your pads, measured? You may be able to eyeball them without even taking the wheels off.

I will have to get under there and take a look this weekend. I guess it is possible the rears have warn down enough to trip the sensor. When replacing the brakes, does the sensor need to be replaced as well?

yes replace the sensor. amazon/ebay have them for cheap, or your bmw dealership.

Looked through the wheel, the front look very good and the rear look like they still have some life in them too. Granted I cannot see the inside but, could it just be the sensor failed?

Started the car up to head home and the light is gone. Weird.
