BMW recommends premium. I put Mobil or Sunoco 93 in mine exclusively.

It will detune itself to run on regular though. Wouldn't recommend it, but doing so really won't hurt anything. If you can afford a BMW, you shouldn't be bothered by the small difference in regular-to-premium cost.

All gas in the U.S. has up to 10% ethanol. If BMW is unable to design an engine that can handle ethanol, they shouldn't offer it in the US.

Spoolin335 is from Canada. But that aside.

Not all gas in the United States is poisoned. Here in central PA there are stations that have gasoline without ethanol, and I that is what goes into my cars. To be honest is makes little difference in the 325, but there is a 10% mileage difference in our 1.8T Passat.

At some point I would hope that Americans realize that effecient, high performance and environmental friendly engines are not going to run on third world fuel.
