so i hit about 53000kms and felt my car was sick or something, something wasnt right i guess

Signs:
shivering at idle
long engine start
full throttle misfiring (gets worse and worse)

DIY spark plug change - best way to do it
That awsome feeling of being able go full throttle again

Nice! I actually experienced a few rough ignitions the other day, and it got me wondering if it's time for me to do the same (I'm at 54,000 kms).

Then again, my battery went flat a few days prior, so it might just be that!

In any case, good job!

did it fix up after battery was replaced?

i read that you should change the spark plugs at every 'bmw's third scheduled oil change'. so like roughly 50,000kms. and maybe earlier if stressing engine with higher boost/tune?.

dunno if its right but mine was perfect timing i guess, rides and starts like brand new again!

I didn't end up replacing the battery, I just gave it a boost from my charger and then drove around town for the day (the battery itself should still be in good condition, it just went flat after reading out my ECU, ignition had to be on and it took 70 mins). It was fine for a few days after that, then I noticed the rough ignitions. I haven't had any more since then, it was just the two isolated incidents.

My guess is that driving around didn't give the battery a sufficient charge, so when I have time I'm going to hook it up to my charger and do it properly.

In any case, I'd still like to replace my plugs, as it's the right time to do so anyways.
