Whats the difference between tuner codes and fault or shadow codes, are they the same?

All codes are faults or shadow faults. Fault is just another word for code. Some faults may be tuner related, others may not be.
A more interesting question would be the differences between faults and shadow faults. Why does my BT scanner show the same codes under faults and shadow faults? |

Under certain circumstances fault codes maybe triggered.
In many cases a "code triggering" is followed by the check engine light in the dashboard. This is a "normal" error code. In some other cases of code triggering there is no indication on the dashboard so the owner can't really know that something's going wrong, unless connecting a diagnostic device (ie BT, Procede, visiting dealership). These are the so called shadow codes.

I was thinking a turner code is a code that points to some kind of possible tuner related code stating that something was tampered with i.e. modification, turbo boosted, ecu tap etc...
Are there any fault codes that can identify tampering type issues vs. general legit problems. These cars are becoming way to smart. |
