Hi all! It's my first time posting, but I've read many posts here for a couple of months now.

I've just bought a 2007 320i relatively cheaply as there were several warning lights and the previous owner was leaving the country.

Shortly before I bought the car the previous owner replaced the driver and front passengers' seats - leaving warning lights for airbag and seatbelts.

I got a seat pad emulator and belt resistor kit from eBay (item number 161243290242) and installed it (very good instructions in the description). My friend owns a garage so I took it to him and he cleared the codes, and success - no more codes for the passenger seat, just leaving a belt tensioner code on the drivers' side. I bought the same kit again (I know I wouldn't need the emulator, but figured it'd be worth it if the resistor did the trick), installed it, and went back to the garage.

It still has the code for the drivers' belt tensioner, and warning lights for the airbag and seatbelt.

If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it! I've looked at dozens of posts here and elsewhere, but can't seem to find anything!

As far as I know all seat belt errors must be reset with a scanner
or coder capable of doing so . With the a BMW coding setup being
or Ista D being at the top of the list.

The coding board is more likely to have the answer.

He's using a Snap-On all-in-one jobby which was able to clear other warning lights (brakes), and he can clear the code, it just comes back.

If it's different for airbags and belts etc are these something that's worth buying (I'm planning on making the car into a project) or just taking to someone who has the gear and can code?

Thank you ctuna - they pointed out that the seatbelt tensioner may have condensed (I didn't know this was a thing!) - photo attached for comparison.

I got a replacement, fitted it, and had the codes cleared - no more warnings!

And we went from coding to mechanical -- which is why people love to tool older cars.

Glad that worked out for you as that's certainly the most straightforward.
