335i engine tuning in europe

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum and owner of a space grey 335i stock . I'm located in Belgium Europe and looking for a engine tune. I've searched for different tuners over here and found a few tuners that can handle the 335i.

First there is Noelle motorsport with the 401hp tune . His tune costs 3277 euro and consists of the reflash and free flowing catted downpipes.

Then i found DS motorsport who has a 420hp upgrade but their price is 8600 euro for the kit wich only includes an exhaust and some add ons to enhance cooling.

On their list they also have a 380hp tune and they say on pre 06/2007 models there is a crank stabilisation needed???

Does annyone have more info or advise on those european tunes?

Regards ,

Tim

dont waste your money on those.... There are better options for a fraction of the price if you are looking for tune only. Just read the forum and gather info.

I did gather info about whats available on the market. But i like to know more about what we have available over here in Europe. As far as i know they are respectable tuners over here , but it seems they don't really like to give information on what their products include. Thats why i'm asking over here.

8600€ is alot of money for a exhaust a reflash and some minor parts . I also read Noelle used to change pistons with his first kits , why doesn't he do that on the new kit?

The options you have listed are way too expensive. If I were not to opt for the OEM BMW Performance Power Kit, I would get the JB3. Its cheap (450EUR), has multiple "maps" (power levels) selectable by accelerator pedal pressing, offers the most power gains (60-80whp is typical) of all tunes and you can install/remove it at home. Also, it is one of the most popular (if not the most popular) tunes for the 135i/335i.

A reflash price is around 800-900 euros.
What they probalby include is an upgraded intercooler and catless downpipes.
So yes at the end you will go up to about 3000 Euros maybe including installation.
Noelle is a good flash but not that strong. This is me against a Noelle with intercooler and downpipes by the way ;-)
[u2b]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/243-wLd0SrA&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/243-wLd0SrA&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/u2b]

Depends what you want to do with the car. A piggy is a good option and works very well. Intercooler is a must from the beginning. Dps can be added later for more power and faster spool up response.

We ship piggyback systems to the European Union several times per week. So that is also an option.

Hi,

These prices are quite high, I know some german company whom provide a kind of engine rebuilt including extending the cylinder size etc... never seen a car whom has had such a tune..

I've been running a Procede developed by Vishnu autosports the last 1,5 year , driven 70000 km with it... no tune related issues, including two times a Cannonball Run Rally accros europe where we drove more or less fullspeed 6000 km in one week.

On the german highway we reached 290km +

Only good experience with it and ongoing improvements and new features.

bottom line, 8000 euro's is to much, there are better / more affordable tunes out there....

Hi Tim,

I'm running the "Noelle" tune (which is, in fact, an Evotech product as it was Evotech who developed it in the first place) and am quite happy with it. DMS is also a good company who - if I'm correctly informed - developed their own flash tune for the 335i. You will get a sufficient power increase with both, and IMO both are very well done and favour reliability over maximum power increase.

Flash tunes are more common in Europe, but also more expensive here than elsewhere. Around 2000 EUR for a flash is more or less usual. DMS is adding an exhaust system (which alone would probably cost around 1500-2000 EUR), DPs with race cats (probably from HJS which are quite expensive) and an oil cooler, I believe. Still the price is much to high, if you ask me - if you consider a flash, you can just get the Evotech one and add the other hardware components yourself (which I did). Alternatively there's also the GIAC flash which could be installed in Paris, or the ESS flash but for which you would have to ship your DME to Norway or the US.

Piggybacks are also an alternative, obviously, and the JB is the least expensive way to do it. I won't go into a flash/piggyback argument here, you can just use the search function for that. To each his own!

I would certainly also recommend to get an intercooler and additional oil cooler in order to avoid high temps.

That would probably be Racing Dynamics. They indeed rebuild the engine - increase the displacement to 3.5l and add new turbos. Result is "only" 450hp crank, which is not nearly enough considering they're charging more than 20.000 EUR for this kit.

Unfortunately, in Europe prices are somewhat higher. The Evotech quotes at around 2000 EUR, without any additional hardware components.

Can't watch that here at work, unfortunately. Do you already have the GIAC stage 2? And does the Noelle car have catted (which would be standard for them) or catless dps? I'd be interested in trying out the GIAC stage 2 with my mods.

to summarize flashes in europe:

ESS in Norway 800$
Evotech germany 2000€
Giac US in Paris 1000$
Noelle 3000€

Any other flash available in Europe?

I am waiting to see Giac stage 2 if ti is stronger than ESS stage 4 ....

But for the moment car is stock, fighting with 2 dealers for high coolant consumption, they never find out where the leak is, maybe head gasket

GIAC Stage 2 is on my schedule for April 2010, as well as the installation of catted DPs and an Intercooler, after my warranty has expired. Test drives will be free

But right now I discovered an oil leak, which I will get checked Friday I suspect it could be related to the turbo swap (wastegate rattle) a few months agon. I thought (for far too long) that the liquid I saw on the garage floor was condensation water from the car's climatisation

Stuff like that drives you crazy with these cars...
