$200 deductible for Supreme Extended Warranty?!?!?!

i got the half engine: reduced power light last week so i took it to Savage BMW in Ontario, CA and my SA Gabriel told me that it wasnt my hpfp but transmission sleeves, transmission pan, and vacuum hose that were the problems. He didn't know i had extended warranty so i had to give him the phone number on my contract. He contacted me telling me there is a $200 deductible for every time i get my car worked on. I saw the invoice and the parts only came out to $188 and labor $408. is this dealer screwing with me? it sounds like this guy is trying to f me over. im gonna call the insurance company connected to my extended warranty tomorrow. If anyone has had a similar experience with this dealership or others as well as with extended warranty issues similar to this please post your experience and what you had to do. thanks a lot!

Well what does your warranty state? Does it list a deductible? I am also wondering about the repair, I wonder if they changed the hpfp and just reported the other repair so they can charge you. Note: BMW extended the warranty for the hpfp.

im going to look at the warranty contract at work tomorrow again but the last time i looked at it, it didnt say anything about a deductible. also im pretty sure it was hpfp, i had to change that about 10k miles ago at another dealer. the invoice states:

1199 MISC ENGINE REPAIRS
125 C 409.22
3 83-22-0-406-929 1/2 LITER OIL: 832512 27.59
1 24-11-7-571-235 GASKET, OIL PAN: 248520 48.99
1 24-11-7-520-713 SCREW PLUG: 24999911 29.26
1 24-34-7-588-725 SEALING SLEEVE: 24999934 27.27

PARTS: 188.29 LABOR: 409.22 TOTAL: 597.51

53866 TRANS PAN MECHARTONICS CONNECTOR SEAL LEAKING 3.60 REPLACED
TRANS CONNECTOR SEAL & TRANS PAN GASKET --- TOPPED OFF FLUID 1LT..

there are 2 more pages and i dont have a scanner right now so ill just look at the contract again tomorrow.

i just wanted to know if its normal for the warranty company from BMW dealerships to ask for a deductible for extended warranty repairs.

By the way, $200 isn't bad if they performed that work.

I totally stand by Savage BMW. They aren't perfect, but they backed me up against BMW when BMWNA was starting to get nervous about fixing my car under warranty at 88K miles. Jim Straley, the Service Manager took up the challenge and Savage knows my car and its problems well - probably much to Jim's dismay.

My BMW extended warranty had a $50 deductible. A third party extended warranty on my BMW K1200GT motorcycle was $100. Deductibles are normal practice in the business wrt extended warranties.

I only used Gabriel once. My preferred SAs are Remny and Joe. IMO, they have the best teams of mechanics.

On a final note: My car has had at least 25 reduced power/limp modes in the past few years. Only 6 of those events where related to HPFP failure.

sounds like you have a 3rd party warranty... you should have done some homework when you were signing up for it.

Many extended warranties have deductibles. Normally the customer who buys the warranty is aware of this. The dealer is not screwing you, they have to collect the deductible or take less money to do the job because the warranty company will pay the cost of the repair minus $200. Just like the deductible on car insurance for a collision.
