I've got an early common rail Cummins in my Ram, but haven't modified it much beyond the stock levels so far. The diesel shop I've dyno'd at and worked with on my exhaust specializes in the domestic trucks. In his work area he's got turbo's with housings big enough that I could fit most of my leg through. He's always got trucks with engines pulled and being rebuilt and modified to crazy high hp/boost levels. I kinda like going there just to see some of the crazy stuff that's being done.

It's a p-pumped 24v engine with 14 mm studs in the head and mains, 6x.018" injectors, scheid laser cut delivery valves, 4,000 rpm governor springs, scheid street cam, by eye afc work, and a s366 over an s480.. Or s357 over s480... I've played with a few combos and I've got a bigger 13mm injection pump I built which I ran once and got worried it smoked too much for the street.. Gonna mess with that again soon... My other observation with water/meth on this set up is that it works well when under fueled.. That setup above leans out a bunch in the high rpm and there's no smoke... You add the water meth and it's a little more fuel

So I have heard lots of guys say water/meth does nothing for more power, it only lowers egts.. What I've found is that those guys are already running really rich air/fuel mixtures and the extra power from water/meth is to be had while running lean.. And remember guys our 335ds run lean so that's probably why they respond so well to water/meth ..and it's perfectly safe for a diesel to run lean because they run cooler like that... Which is opposite of a gas powered engine which runs hot when it's lean..

Can any of you guys post intake tract pics after you run the H2O meth kits for a month or so?

It seems there are a ton of guys paying alot of $$$ to clean there intakes. My experience with water meth is it leaves the intakes pretty clean especially the cylinder/pistons.

Just curious.

New to the boards, Thanks

Garage List
If no one else posts, I should have pics for you in the spring, but my car had 75k mi before the meth was installed.

FYI, taibani, at the current injection profile, I burnt through 2.5g of h2o/methanol in 2 gas fill-ups (call it 1k mi). Will be changing the mpg nozzle to one with less flow (but injected more frequently), so will update once I've made the change.

I have to bump this topic since I need to clean my engine due to CBU recently diagnosed on my car.

Will this universal kit from Snow Performance work on our cars?

I posted a thread a while back with pictures showing the intake after a few months of egr block and methanol. I would find the link but its a pain from my phone.

I don't think they are offering the diesel kit anymore. You probably should call snow performance and devils own tech support and just have a chat.

I got an email back from Burger, here's the quote: "You can adapt it to work if you want but it's up to you to figure it out. We don't support installation on the diesel models."

yeah. I would go with one of the other kits. The Burger kit I got appears to have been sourced from Snow performance. The only advantage of the Burger kit was that it was controlled from JBD, which was good for me since it was quick and easy to set up. Since they are no longer offering that you might as well go with one of the others, they seem like they are pretty helpful explaining what you would need

Hey guys,

I installed an AEM kit over the weekend, so far so good. Does anyone know a good source of 12v in the engine bay that would only be active when the car is running? Right now I have it set to the 12v by the battery lead so it is "always on" and would like to fix that.

Also any ideas where to install the little LED light for the cabin that comes with it, I saw one installed behind the hazard light that was pretty cool but no idea how to get back there. I'm also thinking maybe one of those extra buttons below the stereo.

Thanks!

Mine is not powered until I activate it via a button in the compartment behind the shifter assembly. I made a wiring harness for it so it can't be activated until terminal 15 is active also and it does not cause a battery draw when the vehicle is off.

Is not a good idea to have it always on. In my m3 i also have a aem kit but installed a switch inside the driver small dash storage box to control the power cable and be able to turn on/off the system only at my command. I also put the led above the steering column cover for easy perception. I saw failures with hydrolocked engines due to stuck meth pumps running.

I wish there was something in the engine bay that was on/off with the ignition, but I like the idea of a switch in the cabin as well. Not sure how to run the wires from the computer box on the passenger side through to the dash, but I will give it a shot.

Thanks!
