Do you mean secondary delete? The PE comes with a resonator delete pipe. But your car does not sound like mine.

It sounds good, and this is the logical next step for me if I was to do more exhaust work. But those pops at the end make me think it's overall a lot louder than the clip would suggest?

I honestly dont know how loud my car sound, in cabin and standing on the street sound completely different haha. I wish i could turn my car into a remote control car, so i can listen to it cruising by.
My PE w/ 2nd cat wasn't making many crackles anymore (and gain few hp, member here dyno it) which is why i decided to remove the 2nd cat. When I first got it removed, I couldnt tell there's a sound difference, later on i noticed it sounds deeper than PE w/ 2nd cat.

If it ever stops making sounds, you just have to drive it hard for a but, and the come back.

Thanks for posting, but let’s keep the mod list specific to exhaust work. Before you know it everyone’s listing every little mod.

I listed everything that affects the sound you hear coming out of the car. That includes the tune unfortunately. (Or fortunately!)

My comment was more in reference to the person who listed his intake, filter and silicone hose.

I'm confused. Of the six users who've posted videos, four of them, myself included, have included our intake mods in the list.

You’re really dragging this out. My post was more PSA to prevent others in general from listing frivolous mods and to keep the thread on topic.

Regardless if you think that your intake, filter and rubber boot contribute to the exhaust audio from these clips go ahead and knock yourself out. My post was in regards to blueeyes if you must know. But at this point I really don’t care lol.

I'm not trying to drag anything out, and I'm not confused either, I was just trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. I'm the only person who took the time to take some videos from the location we'll all hear our fucking exhaust 99% of the time - from in the cabin - and if you don't think the rest of the mods to your car affect the sound from that vantage point (or from anywhere other than a foot behind the tailpipes), you need to see an audiologist. :P

Scaring me away from deleting secondary cats.... lol
Nah it sounds pretty badass, tbh. It's so hard to tell things like tone from videos though, all depends on camera location sometimes.

Thanks for sharing! Hey btw, exactly how are your 2nd cats deleted? I think that info is important because maybe the smallest changes in setup can make a noticeable difference in the sound - i.e. Supersprint vs. aFe front pipes

I also think listing tune and intake mods is important.. sometimes intake can be audible, and if you have a tune with options like the "bpc burble," well it would obviously be good to know that the cracks are coming from the tune and not just the exhaust characteristics.

I must respectfully disagree. I think the next step would be headers, hands down (assuming funds for said headers + the necessary tune are available.. which granted is not a small bill). Headers will definitely give more power than cat-less front pipes, and it's doubtful that you would want cat-less front pipes once the headers are present, at least from the sound of it. Only a few guys here seem keen on having no cats at all, and IIRC they all use their car for actual racing where the frankly obnoxious sound levels may be worth it heh.

TL;DR If funds for headers and a tune are available, and BMW warranty isn't a concern, I would personally go that route and skip deleting secondaries. Header swap might be a bit louder vs. front-pipe swap, but I believe the power difference is in the up to ~15 WHP ballpark.

Well, you can't run headers in California. I don't think I'd want to get rid of the primary cats on a daily driver sedan anyway. But of course YMMV.

Especially in Alabama, I almost ran straight pipes in the M3. And I chopped the cats off the 540 (it only had one set) and it smelled bad. Sounded good. Made good power (compared to the ancient clogged factory cats, anyway). I know some people say you won't get the smell when you remove the cats, and maybe the N52 is clean enough that it's different, but I've had a variety of catless cars over the years and they've all smelled the same.

Oh, that's right. Sorry, I've lived in Alabama my entire life (don't make fun, lol), so sometimes I forget emissions testing is even a thing heh. Still, I'd be surprised if one couldn't pass a visual inspection with just the one pair of cats (as long as your tune coded out any errors, etc.), but again I have zero personal experience with how trained and in-the-know these testing personnel are. I'm sure this topic has already been addressed on this forum ad nauseam so I'll shut up now.

Less talk, more videos.

Let's keep this thread on topic, there are plenty of others discussing what mods to do and why...We don't need another one repeating the same shit over and over.

For a thread that is literally a duplicate of one of the stickied topics in this section of the forum, you guys are taking things awfully seriously.

Well this thread kinda went downhill fast, lol.

I get the thread's purpose, but c'mon.. this is an internet forum - you can't expect there to be no discussion at the same time. I'd say the best we can hope for is to at least stay semi-on-topic, which I believe we are doing quiet well at here! I promise I'll post up a sound clip eventually!

Hey Panda, could you please clarify exactly how you deleted your secondary cats? Thanks!
