Guys,

Here is the link that has more info on the bulb (Lci Halo)

http://www.donsbulbs.com/cgi-bin/r/b...Cba9s~ece.html

Marc - can you make your Lux 5 with H8 type connector to draw 10W power if you can then i'm willing to test it on my LCI Xenon retrofit !

Many Thanks,
/A

hey guys,

new finding
I attempted to remove the bulb but not sucessful

first I managed to remove the front chrome piece that holds the glass
there were 4 clips to unhook.
once its removed, the bulb does not come out from the front.
besides it is too small to grab onto the bulb with your fingers
the bulb housing does not provide enough room to fit 2 little fingers
so definitely, cannot force it to go

I try chip off the 2 heat welted taps on the side but they are hard to do either.
I need a dremo or something like that which I don't have.

sounds like to remove the bulb, you have to go from behind.

that is the one, exactly the same.
no wonder can't take it out from the front, there are 2 notches on the bottom of the bulb.

the color of the angel eye is white color
I am just wondering
if the OEM bulb displays yellow, you added blue marker or whatever film
isn't it blue + yellow = green
just wondering why it show up in white?

can we go to a glass shop and buy a small piece of blue color glass cut to size to fit the OEM glass piece in front of the angel eye
you see what I am talking about?

but again, Marc will say the OEM angel bulb brightness is not good enough.
going to a glass shop will do but that can get pricy for a custom job, and i dont know any local ones here lol

what i did now was that i just shaprpied the glass of the OEM bulb and left it on for like 10 minutes and the ink did not melt off or fade... anyone it looks pretty sweet, just as bright as the oem yellow but blueish...

im just not able to pull the drive set off since i need alley ranch tools that i dont have at home...

Okay so I didn't read all that you guys were working on but here is my 2 cent ...

1. With all the money, time and work you guys are doing you could have bought a set of RD LEDs from the for sale thread and have been done with this.

2. Even if you go to a glass shop to have a them cut you a tinted glass in the size that you need, the stock bulb is not bright enough to reflect both off the glass and the angel eye tubes.

3. You guys will be able to get to the stock bulb out but it will be no good after you break into it.

4. You would really have to modify the back of the housing in order to fit a LUX LED in there, Not even the PIAA LEDs fit! Both the LUX and the PIAA stick out to far to where it would hit the housing cover.

a few questions please:

1. I assume the entire OEM angel eye bulb assembly will be replaced, the existing grey color plastic mounting bracket, a glass piece attachment also will not be used, am I correct? due to the fact the new RD LED will be held up with longer tap screws.

2. RD LEDs - do we buy any RD LEDs in the market? any particular brand name? the one you show in the picture is 7000k. is that the one you used?

3. where do we buy longer tap screws? local hardware store

4. when you cut the OEM angel eye wiring, is there a positive and negative side?

5. when plug in the female connector, does it matter which side to plug into the RD LED?

thanks
and to move on to the answers ...

1. YES

2. YES, I got mine from Long Tran (LTBMW)

3. YES a local hardware store should have them

4. Not that I can remember ... I remember taking them off once then not remembering what went where so I just guessed and it worked.

5. No (same as above)

Best of luck to you guys

Oh and here is a clear picture of the front and back of both the stock bulb and the RD LEDs ... This may clear the picture for you guys:

I thought the the LUX was for the E90 LEDs ... Why would you modify it to fit a H8 bulb when you could just get this HID H8 kit:

All you have to do is cut the wire and crimp on some female end to them and then use a self-tap screw to hold down the LEDs ... Let me know if you guys need a full detail DIY on this.

Here is how mine turned out (pics with headlights off):

I've been working with alanchan on getting pics on what the oem looiks like. i'm about 99% sure that LUX 5.0 will work with just a tiny modification to the LUX unit, No changes will be made to the Headlight itself.
