I hate a chrome badge. I couldn't wait to get the car home when I bought it to rip the badge off. Also if you have dual exhaust it's either a 335i or a 335d. Anyone who knows about BMW's already knows this.
I mean come on... this looks way cleaner.

I think i would do the same for a 335i too, but never a M3 LOL.. Its hard to believe that people would debadge that.
I'd totally rip the M3 badge off. I would request it off before I even took delivery. I hate anything stuck to the paint. I'd rip all the BMW emblems off if they didn't leave indents/holes.

Buying a 330 soon, definitely going to debadge it.. not to fool people or make it seem like i have a bigger engine, I guess i just have an OCD in the sense that i like my cars symmetrical!

who knows, maybe ill put "i033" on the left side haha ...jk, definitely debadging it

I think I will be replacing my badges with matte black ones soon, i already have them but never had time to work on them. With the spoiler, I think its gonna look better black, since my car is black as well.

Because that is how the car comes from the factory and removing the badge serves zero function (just like changing out angel eyes for brighter/bluer ones and other ricer mods).

The chrome badges are incorporated by a BMW designer into the whole aesthetic of the car. Personalize your car to your heart's content but the argument that anyone here knows more about design than professionals paid to do it is laughable.

Would never debage an M3 as I have much respect for the M division.....but the 335i DOES look a hell of lot cleaner without the badge.

Look at it this way; symmetry is a mark of beauty....by debadging, it sets everything off in equal proportions...(only applies for 335i)

A badge is a marketing thing...nothing more. They don't incooporate a badge into the design of the car because it serves some crucial factor in the vehicles aesthetics.

I see where you are coming, though. A badge keeps the originality and authenticity of the car. But that has nothing to do with looks.

Debadging...

I don't care that I have the bigger engine, I debadge anyway. I'd debadge an m3 if I had it. I didn't buy this car to impress anyone but myself.

...was popular in Europe to disguise engine size. This was especially true in the early 70's when Mercedes would sell similar models with different engine sizes. At that time you could (you still can) order a car debadged from the factory - a must back then because the badges were riveted on.

On the other hand, cars would proudly display expensive or unusual options such as "automatik" or "Einspritzung" (fuel injected) - something that never caught on in the US.

In the US it is thought that debadging caught on by accident, when detailers would remove badges to make detailing easier - then forget to glue them back or use inferior glue and they would fall off.

Today - both here and in Europe - it is mostly for a cleaner look...

Debadging is ricey now?? You my friend don't know the meaning of rice.

If what you are saying is true it is impossible for anyone to make the car look better than how it comes stock straight from BMW. Please pass over whatever you are smoking cause it has to be some potent stuff!

We mod our cars to make them our own and make them a little different than everyone else. De badging is an easy free mod and like another poster mentioned it creates symmetry, especially on the 335i(dual exhaust.) The badge was put there to serve as an aid to distinguish it from other models. It doesn't serve any important purpose. Do you think they drew a little "335i"
on the concept drawing? You must not know what rice is if you think it's taking off your badge. If you put a badge on that wasn't meant to be on your car like a m3 badge on a 335i then that would be rice. Or a GTR badge on a maxima.lol
The designers also designed those ugly reflectors on the front bumper on the 335i. Does it make it rice just because I replaced them with painted reflectors? The designers don't know what exactly appeals to each one of us, but the fact that it is a factory option shows that enough people appreciate a clean backside for them to do away with the badge before you get it for the first time. Not that they need to because it take 5 min. with a hairdryer. I bet a designer appreciates debadging because it doesn't get in the way of their initial design. Anyway let us debadge and don't attach stigmas like "rice" to our cars because it looks better to us and that's all that matters.

I'm not saying I know better than the professionals, but I DO think I can make it look better than them... because I don't have to deal with the same constraints as they do.

If the DESIGNERS had their way (with no clowns from marketing telling them what they had to do) the cars would probably not have badges.

What do you think the ride height would look like if the Designers had their way?

The difference between a production car and a concept car should illustrate the scope and scale that designers have their views compromised a lot of the time.

I have a 330i, and i could really care less if people think its a 335 or 328..it just looks better..why would you leave a chrome badge on your car when you black out the grills and all other ugly chrome accessories? Just looks nicer IMO
