On the flip side, it could easily be argued that the scarcity of the debadged 330 owes itself to the common theme of owner insecurity.

I, for one, am not going to submit myself to the pettiness of class consciousness. That's the only plausible explanation for the glut of badges that most car manufacturers plaster onto their rears of their cars. I remove model-specific badges on most of the cars that I own, regardless of model or trim level.

That's not all you'll need...you'll need to add another muffler to make the car dual exhaust...then take out two doors to make it a coupe...then stick a sock in your underwear.

Don't even joke though, I saw one a while ago. A 4-door E46 (320 i think -looking at the trim levels). M3 look body kit, 18' FAKE m3 wheels, the grills on the side, and 4 exhausts! Mad

What I've noticed in my few years of BMW ownership is that:

Some BMW owners will try to segregate within the brand (i.e, 7 series owners catergorize the 5 series as a lower class BMW or 5 series owners say the 3 series is inferior and so on). I see them as totally different cars, equally as good in their own special ways.

Then owners will try and segregrate within each class (i.e, 330 owners look down on 325's, etc, etc)

I've even seen attempts to segregrate on the options that were chosen.

I find that amazing and something I have never seen before with other manufactures.

To me, when you buy a BMW, you are buying a premium vehicle, regardless of what model or engine you choose.

In Belgium you have the option to leave the badge away... and that option is FREE ! A FREE BMW-option, ladies & gentleman, who ever thought those two words could fit in one sentence ?!

Its not an 'official' option in the US, but it can be done if you ask at ordering time.

How about removing the BMW logos? They look pretty integrated or are they just stuck on there like the model name? How about the logos on the wheels?

Unfortunately the front end seems to be designed around the logo. It'd probably look stupid if you popped it out. From the photos the back end might look okay without the logo.

The only reason I would take out the logo would be to add an AC Schnitzer badge or something, but I think that just looks stupid. If you don't want poeple knowing you drive a BMW then I would suggest looking at spy photo's and doing that whole black tape story...

I had a Z06 and hated the fact it said 405hp because people never wanted to race. well the only time you could read it was when the car was parked. When a car is that fast it is ok to say it loud and proud. Sickest car I have had. boy do I miss that car.

in the UK, you can get the somewhat asthmatic 316 and 318 models and folk often debadge these , perhaps some form of embarrassment, personally I think sticking a 316 badge on the back of a 330 might be fun!.......badge envy is just that...for people with nothing better to do than wind each other up, The only reason I can think of debadging would be to clean up the lines and improve asthetics (and stop the problem of having to pick the muck out from between the numbers!

i was told by the dealer that it can be removed afterward quite easily and they would be happy to do it for me at at later date if i want to.

so i would get it done from them rather then doing it yourself

hey!!!! I had a 318i and I didnt debadge it. I did debadge my first 316i though, although i loved it.

I wax the cars frequently enough to know that removing the badge can save a good bit of time and frustration. There really are practical reasons for doing it.

Excellent examples. It is particularly nasty within the BMW brand.

I suspect that the reason lies with the general type of person such a reputable brand is likely to attract. I would rather think of the car as a reflection upon my preferences than as an indicator of how much money I have (or borrow, as it may be ).
