Carbon build up before and after

Thought you'd guys like to see just how bad our n54 carbon build up can get, this was after about 60k miles with no catch can (bought it used)

Catch can and cleaning definitely needed for this engine ><

Wow!

Was there ANY air going in? With that much buildup the engine must have felt like it had emphysema. You should feel an enormous difference in the way the car drives.

I would recommend you do not wait another 60k miles for the next cleaning. My car was really bad after 36k miles, so every 30k or so. Sooner if you make many short trips and don't allow the car to warm up properly.

I wish I still had the pics of mine...the cleanest one was worse than that one! You definitely got your cleaner than I did too!!! Walnut blast?

walnut and metal pick, some were so bad that the walnut blasting couldn't get it

Did mine at 80k for the first time and even though I thought they would be this bad, they werent! Surprised yours looks like this with 20k less miles...

runs a lot smoother, though man these cars get kind of mad being in stop and go traffic lol, they get squeaky and engine gets mad build up lol.
