The temp gauge on your dash is your oil temp, not coolant temp. sounds like your water pump went.

Also, check you coolant level just to make sure it isn't way low.

Thank you now any ideas about the brake/traction light with the tire monitor light?.. my book says stability control is what this combo means.. i had my brakes and rotors replaced about 200 miles ago could this be part of it?

I've had the Yellow Brake Light and Traction control problem for the last 6 months. Its an Intermittent issue.. comes on randomly sometimes stays for 5 mins and goes away sometimes I drive 20 miles then start and stop the car and it suddenly goes away. So weird! Brake level is fine.. Sorry I'm no help.. but your not alone! haha. Keep me posted on a solution / fix.

Cheers

Just curious how old is your battery? Sometimes when these cars get a weak battery they start bugging out.

So here is the update: water pump was an epic failure which caused the overheating..... So foghat you were correct!!! also the light cluster that had the brake light the traction light and the tire sensor light going was due to the steering wheel indicator that tells the posistion of the wheels to the computer for safety this must be corrected by the dealer by programming, the water pump was $910.00 installed so thankfully the warrenty covered that!! thanks for all of the help guys I really do appriciate it !!
