It adapts itself out as you drive but as soon as you restart the car they come back thn go away again.

Freakin' kickin'.

The pull past 4.5k rpm is amazing. I got two little hiccups; like Marcelo stated. But its nothing major and nothing that can be compared to OE's maps issues.

So at the end of the day, its not a perfect mapping, but its the best available as we speak.

do those hiccups show up on the dyno?

If they do, send the dyno info to AA and they'll try and fix it. I'm on my second tune from them right now because the original tune was running rich on my car. It feels a bit better, but I'm going to get dyno'd again soon to see how it's doing.

That is a really nice torque curve on your car Max

Ive got my actuators on order and just purchased a set of headers from Gavin today. Cant wait to get this going.

Still undecided on the tune to go with. Turner, AA, ESS...dunno...

Those are significant dips in the torque curve. Email Karl at AA he is the technical guy and tell him about the issues.

I'm pretty sure those are caused by the actuators opening up in the manifold. it must cause some turbulence for a short amount time when that happens, which affects power. Mine does something similar, but I was also having an issue with running too rich.

If you look at a stock 330's dyno you'll see the same dips. You'll also see it in the N51's graph as well.

so when driving the 330 in stock form do you feel hiccups like the ones that people have been experiencing when modifying their 325 to the 3 stage manifold ?

Well, not exactly. The hiccups I'm experiencing are not like these and do not occur at these RPMs. They happen under load at low rpm. It's kinda like hitting vtech.

E90 Pilot and Maximus

I looked at your dyno graphs and see you have very similar torque dips at 3300 and 4400 rpm.

Do these dips affect the way you drive the car or spoil your driving experience ?

Not at all, it's really subtle. A 330 does the same thing. If you really pay attention to it you'll notice it. If you just drive, it's fine.

it used to be a problem for me, feeling the torque disappeared around 3200rpm and hesitation when i put my foot down.

however, I learned how to deal with the DISA after I took the car to dyno, the car drives very well now. For everyday or freeway driving, I usually keep rpm around 2500-3000 for max toqure, 4000rpm or up if i wanna enjoy little more speed.

For me, 4400rpm is actually a boost not a dip. you can really feel the power click on when drive through a medium corner.

Do you have a recommended bay area shop that can do the swap install?

I did until they said they won't do it because it's illegal to change the manifold.

Sub'd for later use. Where can one buy a used 330i intake manifold? I checked eBay, and couldn't find a thing.

My 328 came with the 3 stage manifold. I just got the AA stage 2 tune and it's awesome. The car is more responsive. It's totally a different vehicle, especially in DS mode. However, my mileage per gallon went from 20 to 18 but I don't really care lol.

In e90pilot's dyno report,
"At about 3200 rpm and 4400rpm you can see the torque drop and rise quickly. These are the points at which the DISA valves open up. As each valve opens, the torque rises sharply."

I just installed 3-stage intake manifold with ECU tuning on my 2.5L 323i.
All process and result is good, and acceleration is smooth with more low/mid torque.
But I use INPA to detect my engine infomation, the DISA valves open at around 2750 rpm and 3750 rpm which is different from e90pilot's results.
I didn't do the before after dyno.
Just want to know whether early DISA valves open is healthy ? will it affect highend engine power ?
