that looks to be the keeper washer on the control arm nut.

I got them from Ecs tuning and even in the pictures on the page you cant see this ring.. Same for my original they did not have any rings on them.. Just seem so odd to include them if they are not to be used.

So I saw RobC say that his Meyle HD inner and outer tie rods not last past 6 months?

I was just about to order the left and right set and then I saw that UPDATE he made to the original DIY.

Anyone else have had luck with Meyle HD inner/outer tie rods?

Should I just go with OEM to be safe? I wanted the Meyle HD because I was assuming they were more heavy duty then OEM. Therefore giving a tighter steering feel and lasting longer.

I don't want to have to replace them 6-8 months from now BC they're made like shit compared to OEM

BTW ... The OE supplier for the inner/outer tie rod set is Lemfoerder. Autohauaz.com has them for about $75 per set for one side. Same part for non-bmw prices

Your seized tie rod is the original oem tie rod from when the car was new or was it a meyle unit?

Where did you order?

EDIT:

I cant find the original diy or thread where RobC installed the meyle hd inner/outer tie rods ans then came back 6 months later to say the meyle units failed and are garbage!

Anyone know what thread im talking about? It was a diy/thread on how to install M3 upper and lower Front Control Arms...

RobC - please chime in!

Im installing my m3 arms and i want to replace my tie rods and i was going to order meyle parts until i saw what you wrote in your uodate. What actually happened and caused them to fail so quickly? Ive had good luck with meyle in the past, but never on a BMW.

Side note: Meyle is made in Germany

You need to tighten the tie rods and all other suspesion parts under load or they will be under constant stress and fail.

FCP does great stuff for great price with lifetime warranty

Im ordering the OEM brand tie rods. To go with my M3 controls arms i have to install.

Should i just get the inner and outer tie rods or does the inner tie rod joint usually last awhile?

I did my m3 front end with rockauto inner and outer tie rods and it's been 2 months with no issues. I went with moog and used them in the past on my other cars

This does not seem correct.

Can anyone clarify how this could make a difference when both ends are rotating ball joints? I'm specifically, and only, referring to tie-rods - not any other suspension bushings.

correct, with tie rods not needed, Ask other should be at ride height (under load then tightened).
