What Speakers to replace Stock Speakers
Any suggestion on what brand of speakers to replace stock speakers? I just want to improve sound quality compared to the ones already installed.

what sound system do you have?
Logic 7? HIFI? Base? i had the HIFI and i changed the tweeters in the doors and i replaced the 4" door speakers for the logic 7 ones much better sound i also added an amp and the L7 speakers can handle a lot more power than the HIFI ones i crossed them over around 60hz and they sound great just be careful when you reattach the door trim to attach all the wires to the door they have little clips that go into the holes in the trim i didn't do that and i thought the buzzing was from the speakers after i fixed it i have zero buzz now |

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure what brand the speakers are but it came with the car. I just want to upgrade the speakers and make the sound better than the stock ones without having to add amps and subs.

do you have your window sticker?
there are 3 options for the sound system depending on which one you have, you can chose an upgrade path |

From my understanding, it is difficult to upgrade Logic 7 because of irregular driver sizes. However, many people choose to upgrade the standard speakers (which one do you have?)

Get the BSW setup. All plug and play, great support etc.
I just got on the pre-order for the coupe setup. Saved a bunch of money.

Did you upgrade from Logic 7 or Hifi speakers? I have the Logic 7 and debating if there will be any major improvement with the BSW speakers.

The BSW are aftermarket speakers with high efficiency. Some people like them, some don't. Most people who like them upgraded from the Hifi system which does sound like crap from the factory. But the L7 already sounds pretty darn good, and a speaker upgrade alone will do little or no good at all. IMO the best "bang for your buck" upgrades to L7 are: 1. Hook up an amp between the factory amp and the underseat woofers. I used a Blaupunkt Tha1250PnP and it is the easiest install you can do (about 2 hours). The improvement in bass response is tremendous (you just have to be careful about feeding too much power to the OEM subs). 2. Do the same as above, but also replace the factory OEM woofers with Earthquake SWS-8 subs. Pretty nice bump in the lower frequency range. Midbass is about the same as with the OEM woofers. This install is a bit more complicated, about a 6 hour job. BTW, you would be surprised how much better the whole system sounds with just one of the above upgrades! If you want to take it a step or two further, it can get costly very quick! 3. In addition to 1. or 2. also replace the front door speakers with a good component system and install a decent amp to drive them. 4. Go all out and also install a processor to de-equalize the OEM head unit signal to get a clean, flat signal for your amps. The processor will then also allow you to fine tune the system with time delays and much better equalization options than the OEM headunit. Now you are in audiophile quality territory. Why do I know? Because I have done all 4 of the above, in sequence! |

Ooohhh - your logic 7 upgrades sound really good and the first that I have read about.
I am saving up for my last engine upgrade coming in the next few months - bigger turbos. After that is done I may PM you for details on what parts you used and some possible wiring questions. Hope that will be OK with you. Note I am somewhat of an audiophile and although the logic 7 in my convertible is OK - IMHO it could use about 25% more / better sound. Thanks

so it's agreed that BSW is the best option for people who want to upgrade stock speakers?
Is there anything else that's better but not as invasive? |
