this recall is comprised of --

software reprogramming
inspecting and/or replacing affected injectors
replacement of the HDP and/ or the low pressure sensor

repairs on the cars will be dictated by the customer letter you recieve.

jp --

if you recieve a letter from BMW noting your car as an affected vehicle, you may want to hold on to your invoice for the repairs.. the dealer will still need to perform the recall to clear it off the system. at that time you can present your previous repair information..

did you have the dealer save the parts for you?? because the part numbers on the old injectors will have to be checked prior to replacement.

cheers and Happy Holidays !!

I did not save the parts, didn't think i'd ever need them unforatuntely. If I do get a letter, i'm hoping that if the other 3 injectors can be replaced under this recall they can assume my other ones count as well and i can get some money back

Guys,

Does anyone have a link to the actual recall letter? The one that's listed with the TSB is for the fuel pump...

Hopefully you guys that paid for injectors already got the new injectors or they may have to reimburse you and install the new injectors as well.

Could be a good thing.

So whats the verdict on a emissions test?

Also can I leave my tune in when they do the ecu work and switch it to map0?

fyi I have been caught already so thats not a concern, just dont want to mess anything up. They did it before with the tune in but had to do it twice as it failed the first time.

I would not leave any physical tune in there. If the software update is failing, they might open that up and check for a tune. Also, it's possible they may damage the existing DME and replace the actual hardware.

This happened to me but I didn't have anything in there.

JP: you should definitely call BMW NA and request for parts and labor reimbursement.

this recall encompasses up to 3 bulletins -- its really gauged by the information listed in BMW's system.

so depending on your car you can have up to 3 different issues addressed

the following bulletins apply --

13 09 10
13 10 10
13 14 10

each with their own applicable customer letter --

programming
HDP
Fuel injectors

some cars will get the HDP letter, some the Fuel injector letter .. and for some folks -- like myself all three apply ..

Yes yes, but the problem is that the Fuel Injector letter posted on the bmwtis site is exactly the same as the letter for the HDP.

I am the second owner of the car and for some reason I am not getting any letters for recalls. However, my car falls under the HDP and fuel injector recall. I already checked on the part numbers on my injectors.

Basically, what I am trying to do is print the letters and take my car in for replacement HDP and fuel injectors before my warranty runs out...

No worries guy,

the recall is valid until performed and cleared off the system. it has no warranty limitations.. all recalls are set up this way, the only way its no longer valid is if the car is totaled or salvaged.

printing the letter from the web will do you no good .. the letter has your name at the top of it, indicating you are an affected owner.

if you want to expidite this the best way is to do this:
go the dealer and have them run your VIN on the dealer network, if your car is affected it will printout on the report and indicate which operations need to be performed

cheers

and please call CS and have them update your customer information in their system, so in the future you will get your letters concerning any other potential recalls

My question is, is BMW going to replace all working fuel pumps? I'm still on the original by the way. My understanding of a recall is that all affected cars are updated with newer parts regardless if its still working or not.

the best deal is to go the dealer and get your vehicle status report -- its just as good as getting the letter. they should gladly do it for you

if your car is not listed as affected, dont dismay, these letters will not all roll out at the same time --

its pretty clear in the SIBs -- what is repaired and replaced..

all recalls do not require new parts replacement, some do and others can be modification of an existing component. as long as it correct the issue identified.

sorry my bad on my earlier post --

the bulletins should read

13 09 10
13 13 10
13 14 10
