BMW E91 Electrical Power Steering EPS need repair FSC?

Hello everyone,

i have to face issues with my electrical power steering. First the story: Due to a broken housing of the EPS electronic water damaged my EPS. There was no communication over the CAN-Bus. Therefore I replaced the broken steering. The new part is from a 2010 E88. The steering gear should be the same.

I coded it with my FA and made the steering angle reset and also the end position reset successfully. The steering works, but after about 100 meters driving the EPS quit its function.

Now I found out, that my car has the Option "Servotronic" and for activation I need a FSC? Maybe the Steering from the E88 hasn't this option. ISTA says that the SWT Status (Maybe something to do with FSC?) is unknown...

I think that i need something like an repair FSC but I don't know how to get it in my car.

It would be so helpful if someone is able to help me out.

Did you change the VIN in the EPS to your VIN? Tool32 can be used to do this. Then try coding the EPS again. I have heard of FSC repair codes for the EPS, but i think only the dealers can access them.

Thank you for your reply's

I will try to change the VIN via TOOL32 and AIF write. Hope that will work otherwise i come back to your offer (@mizta insane)

What would you prefer? Either to use TOOL32 with AIF read and write to change the VIN in the EPS or programming with WINKPF?

Hello

a new status update to the steering...

Set VIN via Tool32: That was not possible because there was a AIF-Read command but no AIF write command available so i could only see that there was a wrong VIN inside but was not able to change it.

I tried to Program the control unit with WIN KFP. I put all the Data from the SP-Daten for E89 in the demand folders and tried to program the EPS...but that failed at maybe 80%... The ZUSBNR. was the same i read out with update ecu and to program it with... Also I entered the VIN to WINKFP

After that a coder did that job for me and he successfully changed the VIN.

After all adjustments like steering angle reset and so on I was able to drive home. But the steering failed again. He cant help me anymore.

Maybe one of you guys is able to help me via Team Viewer. I think that I need indeed a repair fsc because BMW sells this with the new steering gears...

Thank you for your time and hopefully someone of you can help me out

We never had electric steering in the E series in the US so there
is not that much expertise on it here if any at all.
