Alternative choices H8 Angel Eyes...What do you have? (Vendors Stay Out)

Im looking for some nice H8 led Angel Eye Bulbs for my e90. I just cant see spending $225 for just bulbs. I see lots of options on ebay that look pretty damn good. Does anyone have them? If so can you please post pics and info of seller.

Thanks
Dan

I am with the OP on this one. What is the real story? Searching the forum you get a lot of hear say and marketing BS.

I am looking to hear from owners of kits.

Aside from the absolute brightest possible is there anything wrong with the $60ish dollar kits vs the $220 dollar kits?

Do the cheap kits actually cause the stuff the expensive kits claim they do? Error codes, noises, radio interference etc?

I got the 40W ones from eBay with the resistors. For $50, they work amazingly well! I just wanted to get rid of the ugly OEM yellow ones without spending a lot of money and these do that job perfectly. No H8 LED bulb will ever be able to overcome the BMW design defect of the outer rings being significantly dimmer than the inner rings. So as far as I'm concerned, I don't see that big a difference between these $50 ones and the "brand name" $200+ ones.

Oh, no error codes, no flickering, and they fade in/out as well.

If you're comfortable with coding you can do an HID kit pretty easily.. I went with 25w ballasts and Morimoto bulbs along with a TRS wiring harness. The whole thing was around $130 or so. I got a lot of discouragement in the thread I started about the project but with the UV shielded bulbs, lower watt ballasts for heat purposes and the wiring harness to prevent any issues associated with the high draw during start-up I'm confident it's a safe solution. Yes it's only been a few months but my rings haven't turned yellow (although I anticipate a few "just wait, it'll happen" responses) I've yet to see a plug and play LED solution that is even close in terms of brightness. I think if it weren't for the coding, vendors would be selling the same setup. IIRC there was one vendor who did but it required a big resistor in place of one of the factory halogen bulbs, not very elegant.

It's not for everyone but it's also not difficult. I honestly had a much easier time getting the HID bulbs installed compared to the LEDs they replaced. Not having the giant heat sinks gives you much more room to work.

Thanks for the reply. Can you link to the $50 ones you have?

I purchased these. And I am 100% happy with them. No errors, no flicker, fades out, and doesn't appear to dim when the headlights are on. Lights look bright enough for me during the day time. And with prime shipping, I actually got them the next day.

I bought a pair of BMWLED bulbs last year and my driver one just died. It's been less than a year and when I contacted them about it, I got no response. So be weary of cheap led ones, they may not last at all.

Awesome. I see on the Amazon reviews some people claim the bulbs fit a bit loose. Loose == fogging?

Did you notice any looseness? How long have you had them for?

Thank you!

I've had them about 3 weeks now. It didn't fit quite as perfect as the gp thunders I had, but they aren't going to wiggle themselves loose anytime soon. I still recommend them.

First of all fuck BMWLED, they advertise no flickering or errors and what do ya know, my fogs flicker on start up and throw an error code.

I have the alpine hid kit for my angel eyes. It is BRIGHT. At night it may be a bit too bright but i really want the angel eyes for day/dusk time so this kit is perfect. No coding needed with his kit. I think its the cheapest option considering the brightness.

I know there is the yellowing concern but so far so good, i know others that have not had any yellowing. I have read somewhere around that Alex's bulbs are UV coated so it should be fine.

H11's will fit fine in the housing, just some minor clipping is needed (when you line them size by size you will see the difference). I found H11 sizes to be more varied in terms of wattage and color options. This may be true for LED's as well.

EDIT: I could have sworn I posted in this thread before, lol.

Hey guys....prior to my LCI e92 msport, I had an 07 e93 335 and a 09 e90. I used every single h8 bulb you could possibly think of to solve crappy angel eye problem (from GP Thunder to expensive PIAA euro only bulbs) trust me when I say this......go LUX or go full OSS retrofit.

I have the LUX v3's and there is absolutely no comparison to anything else. Burnt bulbs out twice and they replaced them no problems. Trust me guys stop wasting money on halogen.

I also have tried multiple AE setups from GPThunder II's, thru different LED choices such as Weisslicht, etc., finally to Lux H8 V3's

The Lux went out on me out of warranty @ 2yr/3mo, they would have fixed them for a charge, but I went with the Dtec H8 V7's this time for a change of pace.

Slightly brighter than Lux, but a major PITA to install due to the heatsink design

Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy with the Dtec - didn't want color changing AE's as in the Lux V4 - and that is their only option now as they discontinued the V3 version (I would have to get my V3's fixed)

It came down to E92 vs the HPB. I ended up going with the 40W HPB, the reviews sounded good and only $100 price point. I grabbed the $30 LED interior upgrade too.

http://www.topgearsolutions.com/bmw-...ngel-eyes.html

Ill be sure to post up when I get them installed. I ordered today so MAYBE they will be here by the weekend... if not than the following.
