Corroded voltage regulator in VTG module
Hi,
2009 E92 328xi I have the trifecta of lights and Protool gives me the following errors: D36A - No message (VTG, 0xBC), receiver DSC, transmitter VTG D36B - No message (VTG, 0x376), receiver DSC, transmitter VTG I went to dig up the VTG from under the passenger footwell carpet, only to find everything soaking wet under there (it seems this is more common than expected). I took the module apart, not too bad inside but definitely has some moisture in there and there is a corroded chip (Googling the chip number tells me it's a voltage regulator) on the board, and one pin corroded through completely. Found a clean looking replacement on eBay for $80 so I'm hoping it will fix the issue. My questions are these: I don't see the VTG in the module list in Protool, so presumably it can't connect to it and read it because of the corrosion. As such, I'm unable to read any of the clutch wear values in the transfer case to copy to the replacement, so if replace the module will this be a major issue? Also, does the replacement module need to be coded to the vehicle? Many thanks as always, you guys are life savers! Limey |

You most likely cannot connect because the module is bad.
Is there a fuse for the module? Check for any related fuses too. You can default code the new module to your car with protools, which I suggest. |
