Just been in and spoken to my dealer (Ocean Plymouth) and mine is eligible for the recall, N47D20A engine code. They are waiting on a diagnostic listening machine apparently, which is in demand all over the world so could take months to get the car looked at. Apparently any mileage below 45,000 and the tensioner gets replaced at a minimum

Mine's probably one of the current recall cars.
e92 320d, July 2008, N47D20A. 59k. Called Cockermouth BMW this morning and called the service desk back twice and was promised a call when they're free. Nothing. I guess once the receptionist gave them the details I supplied they all went for their lunch |

Went through to my local dealership, provided the vin, 58 e92 320d, dealer said he could get the car in on Monday and would need it for 3 days! Opted to wait for a courtesy car so booked in for the 27th April

It can be done in a day apparently but they had trouble with stuck rusty injectors on mine so needed to order new injector seals. Looking at the parts list from mine its a massive job which involves removing the gearbox and top end of the engine. I had all guides, chains, tensioners, sprockets(not the crank one), head gasket, numerous seals and bolts replaced.

Just checked and mine is a N47D20A.
What do I do now ? Just ring my nearest BMW dealer up and say I think my engine is up for recall ? Simple as that ? |

Last week I asked darren wood bmw specialist in Bredbury stockport what I should look at doing to my car now it's at 75k.
He said I should do the timing chain tensioner just incase as it s only a £35 part |
