Question on transmission fluid change

I recently got 2006 BMW 330i with 60,000 miles, really nice car .

I read that transmission fluid change is generally done at this mileage. I inquired from indy shops and they quoted me around $300 for fluid change and $700 for fluid change, pan and gasket.

My question is do you think this service is needed at this mileage and if yes should I go ahead with just fluid change or with pan and gasket ?

I’m assuming automatic? That’s the ZF box in your car which seems to slightly prefer closer oil changes than the ZF unit. 60k is a good, responsible interval to do the change. 75k also works.

If you do a lot of city driving probably better earlier. If highway cruising then later is fine.

the pan also includes the filter.

so if you want a new filter you're bucking up for the pan costs.

If you are having a shop do this service. I would have them do the mechatronic sleeve, when they do the trans filter, and fluids.

The mech sleeve will leak over time. And should be done while they are in there changing the fluid.

Do it all and make sure they change the mechatronic sleeve; if you don't, you'll be tearing it open again shortly. Make sure to use ZF fluid
