Thats crazy talk! You can't even see those indents at 120mph! It's all for show in the end. :-)

No need for a different screw, or a screw at all. At least the 320i's chrome pipe fits so tight that it's impossible to remove it afterwards.

Thumbs up

Installed mine today....5 minute job. Looks good!!! you just have to push it in good. Used a rubber mallet and use my old rubber sandals to protect the tips while I'm hammering it in.

anyone know the cheapest place to get these chrome tail pipe covers?

Also, i live in the northeast. Will the rock salt damage the chrome tailpipes at all? I have heard instances where chrome wheels would turn yellow due to the chemicals in the rock salt.

Standard 325

I personally like the 325i tailpipes better than the 330 or any aftermarket fixes. The standard round steel ones look very sporty whereas the chrome versions all look cheap.

Yeah - but the steel ones corrode and end up looking nasty!

If you have BMWCCA membership, you also get the 10% discount at Stevens Creek. I believe PeterPan BMW gives 20% on selected items.

Hrm. I recall seeing the 330i tailpipe and it is a lot nicer than the 325i retrofit/add on chrome tips. I wonder if the actual 330i tips will fit around the 325i tailpipe? Anyone care to comment?

Yup, they fit perfect and no screws needed. Just mash them on. I have them on my car.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but the 330 has different chrome tips than the ones I just purchased for my 325. The 330 tips are longer and do not appear to have the 4 slash cuts, but I could be wrong.

My question is, have others been able to purchase the 330 tips instead and for how much? I haven't seen a part number for them either.

It looks like JIDM has confirmed that you can indeed get the 330 style tips.

Yes, the part number is 18-30-7-549-558. They also list a "559" which is cut out for the exhaust flapper on the 330 (right side), not found on the 325. I just used 2 of the above part numbers. They worked fine, no screws needed as they fit on there pretty darn tight. They also run all the way to the muffler, so they look more "factory", since they are.

JIMD1709, how much did you pay for the 330 tips?

Sorry theres no real pics needed. I can't remember how much I paid, but they shouldn't be much more than the 325 accessory parts.
If you look at a stock 330, That's what they look like. The 330 has a vacum valve with a "flapper" in the right exhaust tip. There is none on the 325. Therfore you can use the part number for the left side on both tips. Just a little "cleaner" than the 325 tips, plus no screws needed. Just my opinion.

Here's what I found out today. The 330 exhaust tips are $35.00 a piece with the BMW CCA 10% discount. The 325 accessory exhaust tips are $25.00 with the BMW CCA 10% discount. $10 more a piece...we'll see if they are worth it as I ordered a pair. My 0.02 from just looking at the 325 and 330 in the showroom...Nope, they are not.

FYI, update to come at the first of next week.

I received the tips today. They are very similar to those that were available for the Z3 2.3/2.5. Instead of the screws to secure them, they have internal clips. It is a much cleaner look when they are installed.

Looks like my 330i exhaust, not bad for a 325i

Just installed the chrome exhaust tips. What a wonderful addition. Really makes a difference in "the look". Simple 3 minute install....
