Need advice; go big wheel or just get different tires?

so, my stock wheels are attached to this post
they're 16", and i believe the tires are 205/55/r16 nokian WRG3
i didnt like them initially but they've sort of grown on me i guess...
they currently have winter sport tires so i'd like to get something to replace them, but keep them around for winter time.

anyway, i was going to snag some decently maintained OEM bmw wheels off craigslist, but all the decent ones are around $800 with tires attached. it's a fair price but still high.

the other possibility is to just get some summer sport tires to fit the current wheels.

to complicate things, i hear the e90s with 16" wheels have dynamic toe-in, which can mulch tires mounted to larger diameter wheels....

so, what should i do?

I would buy a used set of OEM 18" or 19" (such as 189s or 225M). Otherwise I suggest you buy aftermarket 19" wheels, which can be had for about $1k.

I would not put any money into 16 wheels, not even the tires, outside of perhaps a winter-only setup.

i see 189s mentioned a lot, and they actually go for rather cheap on craigslist. do people recommend them because they're everywhere (thus, cheap) and look decent?

No way. The fender gap will look hideous.

Bigger wheels obviously look better so if you can afford it go 19"a in some sort of spokes. Mesh is overrated:::

I think 18's are the best compromise of handling, looks, and wheel protection. I was debating 18 vs 19 like most have and while I would love 19's, the roads around where I live are horrible so I stuck with 18's and got wider tires.

going from 16" nokian tires to a performance 18" wheel/tire setup, your car is gonna feel like an m3 the first time you try them

I recommended them because I think they look great! I had hem on my previous E92.
