If you want to have the CIC and the HD Radio you need to buy the CIC retrofit kit from me without the CIC head unit and source the US spec head unit somewhere else. Last edited by Patrys@BimmerTech; 07-22-2010 at 02:39 PM.. |

Gotcha....doesn't make much sense why they didn't offer it.

Google Maps "Send to Car" activated...
- Assist team added my account email address to their "Send to Car" CIC database; issue was that my email address was in the CCC database (MY2008) so no messages were sent to my GSM TCU as this feature is not offered for the CCC iDrive. My local dealer service shop foreman contacted Assist with the issue and they took care of it. Too many times we complain in these forums about poor or even mediocre dealer and BMW service, but this time they went above and beyond what they are contractually bound to do for a customer. And for that I say thank you very much to both Ft. Lauderdale Imports and BMW Assist. - this confirms that as long as there is a GSM TCU in the vehicle it has the software enabled to receive Google messages, connect to BMW Search Online services and even to send the vehicle location to another email address (part of the Convenience Plan) regardless of model year. |

2 Quick questions, has anyone had any errors in the service status menu after doing this retrofit?
I did the retrofit but afterwards it had a few strange screens in this menu? Also is there a specific module required for independant ventilation, its greyed out in the menu although its kind of hard to see in the pics Here's some pics.

It looks to me like your CIC is not fully coded for your Vehicle Order, so it is showing screens with missing messages just because it is trying to display modules status that are not in your car.
Your climate control has to be automatic and dual controls for that screen to work, but also you need to click on each one of those boxes to activate those functions. |

I believe that my CIC is coded correctly, but I, too, have one of those blank fields on the vehicle info status. Weird. I don't think I'm missing anything though...everything that shows up seems to work fine. Even my old-style TPMS (without sensors) works correctly, even though that system was never meant to work in the CIC.

I remember when everyone first inquired into this and there was little to no solution. Now look at us. Together our community is really good at fixing stuff like this.

anyone else did a 2010 cic unit upgrade? my march 07 build car has external sirius and external hd radio units.
when i got the 2010 cic unit installed... there is one more ant connection that i didn't have the wire for... Im guessing this is for the built in sirius unit. we were able to code the 2010 cic to use my ext sirius tuner but the 2010 extra features like pause and stuff disappeared. also i was able to completely remove my ext hd radio unit and had the internal hd radio tuner activated. but we have a strange problem with the am radio.. i dont get any chs. just static as if the ant is not connected at all.. I'm sure all this will be figured out soon. im sure i can just start to use the internal built in sirius tuner and get the 2010 features by running the sirus ant cable from the existing unit to the back of the cic. any way i can find that cable?

The Euro version's 7 and 8 buttons are just labeled as so.. but they do not function as touch/shortcut bottons. actually they do not even have the touch circuitry.. they function as same as the us units do..

Hi;
Interested in a retrofit but got a few (hopefully not asked before) questions: (These all relate to the older revision of the CCC, without the shortcut buttons on the unit) 1) If I retrofit to CIC, the Haptic feedback would probably be removed, does it mean the old iDrive knob will now just spin around with no force feedback? (if I retrofit without the newer controller) 2) My TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) uses ABS sensors to detect loss of pressure, I think that the later revisions of the E90 changed to newer TPM that detects pressure loss on each wheel, since the CIC is designed for the later model 3 series, how would this effect the warning mesage displayed on the retrofit CIC? 3) Although BMW would not honour reprogramming or support for retrofit CIC, would the unit itself still have a years warranty anyway (so if faulty could still be sent back for warranty repair)? Thanks in advance !
