How much to add satellite radio
I regret not having ordered this option when I bought my car.
I tried to search this topic bud didn't get any clear answers. I have a 2010 328xi with nav. How much would the dealer charge me to add sat radio? Also, is it a "complicated" add on in terms of work? tia |

you can buy it from tischer for $415: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...7&startrow=101
you have to get it installed at the dealership...they have to reprogram the computer. i think it was around $400 or so.

You can always pull the unit out and resell it. Just something to consider.

how about adding it as an iphone app if you have an iphone, then playing it through your system via the cable? also, an iphone might be a better option than the $800 upgrade.
never done it but just a thought. |

The MY2010 iDrive has the Sirius tuner built-in, regardless if you order it from factory or not. The tuner is no longer a separate module in the trunk for the iDrive. This only applies to the MY2010 iDrive so far. The Professional HU comes with the Sirius tuner built-in only if it's ordered from factory. The separate tuner is still required for retrofit when the Sirius is not ordered from factory, at least until BMW rolls out this new new built-in tuner design all across the sound systems. To activate the Sirius the iDrive system requires the loading of 3 files at the dealer for $375 MSRP and 0.5h of labor; one year subscription is included with the price. Ask your dealer for the Sirius retrofit FSC activation codes P/N 65 12 2 167 250. |

Thanks for all the input everybody.
If I decide to go the cheap iphone route, it is possible to connect the iphone and listen to XM through the app while SIMULTANEOUSLY charging the phone. It seems that once you disconnect the usb part of the cable, then charging stops. Can anyone please clarify? |

If your car is pre-wired for SAT then you can install your own and hard wire it to the shark fin (not sure if 2010s are prewired our not). You will not be able to use your radio/steering wheel to control it. I don't swithch channels a lot so this is not a big deal, i left enough slack to pull mine out for long trips. If I use it in the arm rest I just use the remote control.
