wheel/tire insurance still effect on bigger OEM wheels?

I have wheel/tire insurance... and my stock wheel is 16" 156 wheels.
if I upgrade to 162 18" oem wheels, does my wheel/tire insurance still valid w/ those 18" wheels??? I am asking becuz they are also OEM wheels w/ tires.
Also, as far as I know, wheel/tire insurance price doesn't effect on the size of the wheels...... I paid $750 for the insurance.. and I am sure many of us on the bard have paid cheaper or around that price.

I asked my SA a simliar Question regarding that issue.. He told me any aftermarket / bigger size wheels are insured with the insurance.. as long as you have the receipt, and proof that they were on the car during the damage/incident... still, i did not buy it cause i rather use that $800 bucks towards aftermarket wheels, and then probably get that 800 back after reselling them.

I'm assuming OEM wheels, but don't quote me on this!

I was told it is just BMW rims and tires as long as you get it from them. I got the rim and tire warranty and they told me if I get the 18s, 19s, snows, whatever... it's covered as long as it's BMW.

I read the fine print on the back of my contract with a magnifying glass; it certainly does cover any wheels and tires regardless of where they came from as long as, like 323d said, they were/are used on the specified car when the damage occurred. The only difference is that you would have to pay out of pocket first, then file for reimbursement. This is as opposed to being able to bring the oem wheels & tires back to a BMW dealer where they will handle it for you. I only paid $500 for my insurance though, which includes $5000 in coverage of which I've already made a tire claim once.

My dealer told me the same thing, but it totally contradicts the terms of the contract itself.

As the OEM or not wheel question persists I can assure you that they will not cover a non run flat tire. I'm pretty sure that they will not even offer road side assistance if you have a flat tire (non RFT of course) or charge you in the aftermath.

wow wtf that is stupid. So what do you guys plan to do when you guys have a flat while on aftermarket wheels? (pretty sure none of you use RFT's on your aftermarket 19's or 20's lmao)

thats not true. i didnt pick up the warranty and was running my 20's last summer when i got a flat. called bmw assist, they sent someone to pick me within 30 mins. flatbed'd to my dealer of choice within 80kms for free. i left it there and came back with my 4 other wheels and changed them there.

My assumption was based on the fact that if you had RFT you wouldn't need a tow therefore why should they pay for it! If they do great I will not complain trust me, I'm running 17" replica 162's with non RFT winter tires therfore no complaint here !!!

Any way to fix the flat after it's been towed away instead of bringing in back your 4 oem wheels and change it? Seem like quite a big hassle.

They might have changed the third party insurer that they deal with for the wheels & tires.
