water pump CPO codes

hey guys so i have 63,000 miles on my 08 335i. I have no issues with my water pump, but am starting to think about replacing it before something bad happens. I think it is covered under CPO if there is a code. but does a code only come up once the pump has failed? or if its almost on its way out the door will I be able to scan it with the BT and then bring it to the dealer before it dies? or will the dealer replace it without a code? or do they only replace it once it is completly dead? thanks

I'd be interested in knowing this as well. I semi recall reading that nothing really shows up until it fails. Limp mode then dead. However, if there is a way to see it failing and get it fixed under warranty, I'd rather do that. I changed my t stat a couple months ago but left the WP alone as my extended warranty covers that.

this is what i am worried about. with something like the HPFP you get a weird starup and a code and then just bring it to dealer. i dont want there to be no codes or symptoms with the water pump and then just have it die. it seems like a catch 22 if the dealer will only replace it if there is a code, but you only get a code once it fails and you are stranded somewhere. I hope this is not the case

I recently had my replaced under cpo. They will not fix it unless it fails and even if it failed, they will have to read the codes and do a lot of diagnosed. If it is water pump then they will replaced it under cpo but there is a 50$ deductable fee. This is in Canada btw

that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. if something like the turbos die out you can still limp mode it to the dealer for them to get replaced. i dont want to be stranded somewhere in order for this to be covered. that annoying. alright thanks

My buddy had water pump codes popping about a month before his died. I don't recall the exact codes, but they were very indicative of a dying WP.

thats what i was hoping would happen. do you know if these codes showed up on the dash or if they were only seen through scanning the car with a bt? i dont want to have to scan my car everyday just for this
