What's happening with BMW Vin decoders

Lately, BMW vin decoder websites are not functioning properly.

Few months ago, they stopped displaying pictures, but at least gave all specifications about the car. Most can't even pull up the specs.

What gives?

I was using one and it stopped working. Now I'm using the BMWvin.com site. You have to enter the entire VIN instead of just the last seven, but it works pretty good so far.

The link below is still working. I just google bmw vin and usually google finds a working one in the top few results. Many of the sites have come and gone over the years.

It seems like they will all work and then not work and then start working again.

I get the impression that some of them are just web scraping each other, or they all are talking back to a central bmw repository of data that goes offline sometimes...

Would be nice to just download the full database somewhere to be able to rely on it being somewhere.

I saw a post where BMW has like closed their database or made it private or something.

I know it's pretty vague but I recall reading news or a post on this for sure...

Same one I use, works fine. If you don't know what the codes are that they list just Google them individually.

Working fine *now*.

That one, as well as 3 or 4 others sometimes all quit working simultaneously.

Red face BMW VIN Decoder

Hi,

I am buying auction cars and I tried all the websites over the internet on this subject. I used mdecoder.com, but the information is not very complete..

Lately, I found and I am also using https://bmwvinreport.com. You pay via PayPal and they provide you with a detailed report in less than 24 hours. For me it is very helpful..

Hope this will help you out, guys!
Cheers!
