Exclamation 2008 e92 328i Persistent Misfire on Cyl 6

Ok, so I have a read a bunch of threads, and was unable to come up with wiht a solution other than try changing injector on Cylinder 6.

I have

1) Switched coils, misfire stayed on 6
2) Switched Spark Plugs misfire stayed on Cyl 6

I can replicate the code misfire easily by getting motor a little warm, shift into manual mode, keep engine RPMs low below 2000, juice the throttle some, and the misfire will appear. Stuttering, shaking all that good stuff. If I turn the car off, then back on, the problem goes away. I can even just clear the code while the motor is running, and it instantly gets better. I can avoid the misfire for the most part by keeping engine RPMs above 2000.

I would hate to just throw parts at this, but in my view is VANOS Solenoids or Cyl6 Injector.

Wondering if you folks might know of the issue, or do those parts cannon thing, and report back.

The codes I get is Misfire Cyl 6, sometimes Cyl 5 code with show up as well. Once I saw a Vanos Exhaust code, but that has not come back.

Any ideas?

Update:

Switched VANOS solenoids around. Misfire still cropped up on Cyl 6. However, got an error on Intake VANOS, last time it was exhaust. So this leads me to believe that the Intake, formerly the Exhaust solenoid is the culprit, and is lazy. Confirming this, I pulled the cable from the intake solenoid, and car runs decent, no misfire on 6, and only a VANOS activation shadow code.

So I am off to buy a solenoid, will report back.

Let us know how it goes.

I have a similar issue on one of my e91s that is now in my garage but luckily I have 2 other e91s I can use so it has been on the back burner.

Mine is cylinder 5 though. I changed all the plugs, all of the coils, and the injectors on cylinders 4,5,6. Still misfire on cylinder 5. I checked the cylinder and there is a pool of fuel in cylinder 5.

Update: Installed new VANOS solenoid, took for test drive, misfire on cyl 6. Runs decent with it disconnected. Might reset adaptations, see if that fixes it. Doubtful, but it is free. Next step is injector swap.

Can you make it misfire by loading it up at low rpm and high tranny gear?
