Split center armrest -- looking for opinions
I'm considering getting a split center armrest for my E93 from ECS Tuning. Does anyone have one, and if so what do they think of it? It seems pricey but if it gives my elbow a resting place it will be worth it...

With the limited storing areas in my cabin i value my console too much haha.
Just learn to drive with your right arm and rest the left on the door. Looks pretty cool though, havent seen this on any cars, even the edgy car meet scene people. |

it looks an awful lot like the split armrest from the e60/61.
it was nice. link just ges to the news, so no idea what it costs. probably more than I'd pay to have an armrest. |

I believe it was an option on Euro E90 series cars. The website claims it is a BMW factory part, sourced in Europe. I should know soon -- I went ahead and ordered one.

Does this console reduce or get rid the space? I thinks it’s effdctively the same...

I agree. It's just a replacement cover that features a sliding section. My GS350 console lid slides and it doesn't have any impact on console volume beneath it. I expect the same here.

It was literally the best money I ever spent. I absolutely loved it. Get one.
It does not reduce any storage space.

Let me be the combo breaker.
My US spec car never came without the split rest so about a year ago I found a decent deal on one and grabbed it up. As soon as it arrived I installed it with a smile on my face. After 1-2 days I decided to pull it out and sold it. It was less comfortable than the solid lid and just seemed to downgrade the interior with the looks. I like most upgrades I have done to my car but this was on on the short list of "waste of time and money" Build quality is good as you would expect from BMW but just seemed out of place in my car.

I've had one on my car since new - worth the price.

It's in. I like it so far, I think; the drive I did today was more of a sporting outing so I left it in the back position almost the whole time.
I've decided that the ECS installation video is crap. Once the spring is unhooked in the center it can literally stay EXACTLY WHERE IT IS and be lifted out with the rest of the cover. I figured that out during reinstallation unfortunately. I did not have the little gear gizmo in my car, so that might change things somewhat. |

Anyway since this came up again. I've had my split armrest for almost 2 years and I love it. Just one word of advice. When not using it slide it back. I've had many occasions where my toddlers step on the sliding part or my wife reaches over and puts all her weight on it and I could hear it creak and pop...as if a tiny bit more pressure and the thing would go flying off.
