N55 Sensors to replace for preventative maintenance?

Hey what's up guys,

So I'm doing a Pure 1 and FBO install while knocking out an oil pan, valve cover and OFH gasket replacement along with a complete PM. I have the entire front side of the block exposed and it would be a cake walk to replace every single sensor in there and clean out the vanos solenoids..I just want to know what I would be wasting money on if anything..

Are there any of these cam, coolant, crank sensors etc that don't typically go bad within 100k? My car has 51k and I'm trying to keep from digging into it for around another 50k. All of the usual stuff is already getting replaced.

Thanks! - Brian

you could do your oil level sensor while you are doing your pan...

but really just wanted to say - very impressed by the size of you undertaking. do you have a lift or doing it on jackstands?

This is one I can't justify, its so easily accessible that it just doesn't make sense to chock it down as a PM item.

I'm rocking good quality jack stands paired with a good creeper, its not even a hassle. A lift is definitely in my future though.. I'm just a couple of years off from having the ceiling clearance.

Back on-topic, I ended up replacing just about everything:

-Coolant temp sensor
-Oil temp sensor
-(2) Cam sensors
-Knock/Ping sensor
-Crank sensor
-MAP sensor

Should be running pretty smooth.

between the fresh gaskets and all those sensors, i bet you will hit 100k with no problems. but you will be going PS2 before that i bet

Haha nah, I'm sticking with this setup until its retired from DD status..then its either a built engine with a single snail or maybe an LS swap. We'll see.

O2 sensors are just about the only ones I would replace preemptively.

New pre-cat O2 is going in with the catless downpipe and the rear is being replaced with a sim.
