New to BMW, looking for "sirius" help.

Hey there:
We just bought a 2011 328i xDrive. The salesperson told us it was prewired for satellite radio but it would cost $300 or so to have it enabled. I have been searching this forum and google and can find lots of info but I'm not sure exactly what our car has or doesn't have so am unsure where to start. I see some people need to code their CIC and others say they just swap fibres. Any help getting pointed in the correct direction would be appreciated.

Thanks and apologies for the noob question but I have to start somewhere!

Are you sure he/she wasn't talking about the contract with Sirius? I thought if your radio was satellite ready all you needed was to buy the service, that's what I did.

They're probably referring to the FSC code needed to use the internal Sirius tuner on the CIC. There are patches to get around that these days

That's what I thought but the Satellite option isn't showing on the CIC. Just Radio and Multimedia I believe.

I did see some downloadable FSC code generators online but it looked like people mainly used them to do something with the Nav. Will that same generator work for enabling the Satellite option for Sirius I wonder?

You can check if you have the wiring for the external Sirius module in your trunk. If you do, your in luck and won't need an FSC. Just grab a used module & code it in.
And if I don't have the wires in the trunk I am SOL and have to pay?

Or you can purchase the FSC from a 3rd party for around $100 or so.
OK thanks so much!

Out of curiosity I have the same issue although mine was retrofitted with a CIC that has Sirius. I wired the output to the antenna. However how do I go about getting the workaround to get the satellite radio to show up on the system is workout paying the $300 for the FSC code?

That is a whole new dimension worth exploring. I have never heard of a patch. My system uses an emulator . Where to I begin with patching?

If you have a post September or later 2010+ build with a CIC, MY 2011, you should already have Sirius in the head unit.

An FSC code is needed to enable it, plus Sirius activation.

Dunno about the FSC stuff on Cartechnology.

Yes that's what I am understanding and I do have a MY2011. Just don't want to have to pay the dealership really, they seem to e gouging for a software update at $350 dollars. I'm continuing to look around but haven't found any straightforward walkthrough or patch sourcing as of yet.

Ok update I did find a guide to coding but it is for the F series. Hoping it's the same for E-series. Would provide link but not sure if that's allowed here so holding off for now.

It's simple to code in Sirius to the CIC to get it to show. However activating it is where the FSC code or the patcher comes in unless you use the external Sirius module.
OK, the fog is lifting a little.

Hi,
I have a 2013 e93 which came with the satellite preparation. I have installed the satellite antenna that is needed for convertibles and coded the CIC, CAS, FRM modules to activate the satellite radio option. The satellite radio menu option is now showing up in the iDrive menu but there is no ESN number assigned (Sirius confirmed that I have a subscription and they also sent a refresh signal from their end, which did not help). I came across this thread in my search for a solution. so, how do I get this FSC code and how do I upload it to the car?

Thanks!
