Making the chrome window strips new?
Hi
How do I go about making the chrome window strips on my car new again ? I was considering just spraying them with plasticote and just getting rid of them but I actually like the chrome, makes the car look more expensive / classy in my opinion. Thing is the finish is poor ... 10 years does a lot to chrome. How do I get it looking like new again ? i've tried metal polishes they don't do anything other than clean recent muck and dust off. I'd love to be able to drive in to a bodyshop and just pay them to give the chrome on my tailpipes a new life as well as the chrome on my windows. |

Window trim is actually aluminum. And I'm assuming that you have some oxidation marks on it. I had the same.
I tried polishing it out it didn't work. One day I bought Meguiars Ultimate Quick Wax to apply after a polish. And surprisingly it removed all those damn marks from the trim, completely!! Before you buy it, wash your car, then go to the store and spray a little on a cloth and try it out before you buy. Give it a shot, it worked for me. |

I found wet sanding instructions on YouTube. On a jet black car it's a decent contrast. I'd rather have it metallic silver than chrome, like Audi's. But I don't understand everyone's obsession with black on black on black.
