Just box/lid = $370 + shipping
box/lid/filter = $400 + shipping But the filter they offer is not hi-flow, it is the factory BMW Euro paper filter, and according to the site not in stock with ETA of April 6 So you're better off just buying the K&N & spending the xtra $20. So total for all would be $420 as you stated. You would need to order the K&N from someone else though.

Under normal driving and cruising conditions the intake sounds stock, but put your foot into it and you know there is business going on under the hood, no sucking sounds, just the sound of a good solid and strong performance engine. Is it louder than without .. a little, but then again now that I think about it .. after adding scoops it seems to make less noise.
I'm still amazed at the improvement, you have to watch yourself when merging into traffic using an on ramp .. if you put your foot into .. man they come up quick .. Last edited by twistedm3; 02-03-2011 at 08:22 AM.. |

Testimonials are the best sales pitch.
I think I will pick it up and install the day it gets nice enough outside to put my summer wheels back on.

I got mine at http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-330...ake/ES2072577/ they list the BMW PN# in the listing.

It's interesting that BMW does not sell the box alone, so you get the air box, seven screws, MAF sensor and round paper filter. |

On the topic of sound. It is very sedate at 2k and below. If and when you put your foot down, the car really comes alive. It definitely tells people that you have something NaStY under the hood. I'll try to take a video of hard acceleration and normal driving asap. Last edited by bpas328xi; 02-04-2011 at 04:29 PM.. |

When we did the install and all the pieces were off, I used a digital air flow meter to test the stock and EURO box. I connected it to a shopvac and then the flow meter and then the boxes. Here are the results:
1239 CFM - Stock box with paper filter and carbon filter 1257 CFM - EURO box with paper filter 1265 CFM - Euro box with K+N filter 1300 CFM - OPEN no box, max flow on my DIY flow system What does all this mean? EURO box with K+N filter flows 2.1% more air than stock box. 230HP = 2.1% more air flow + 4.8 HP, So I estimate a 5 HP increase. Sounds about right and the math backs it up. |

Sorry no. I didn't have that setup to test.
Interesting that the air intake upper elbow made no difference in the flow. I also blew air into the intake opening, like to stimulate an air scoops and the airflow definitely went up but was unstable and hard to get an exact steady reading. I was just trying to blow air in with a hair blow drier. |
