Service engine soon light
Hey my service engine soon light came on today. I drove a couple miles this morning no service light on. Six hours later driving home the light is one? Car doesn't seem any different? I checked the on board diagnostics the only code it threw was the one that was there before rear brakes need to be replaced? I already searched I could find anything just thought I would see if you guys had any info. Thanks

that happened to me a few weeks ago, so i went to the dealership, they told me it was some sort of emmissions that my state doesnt have (maryland) so i didnt need to worry about it, and they just reset it for me

The Emissions inspection light is a service icon showing a car with a double S symbol at the rear and will indicate when the next inspection is due by your state or municipality. Some areas of MD have this inspection every two years, others don't.
But the SES is something else entirely. It is a dash warning that there is an emissions related problem. Try making certain your gas cap is tight and see if the light goes out within a few days. Or it could signify an engine misfire. Tom |

I had the same problem, and it turned out to be some sort of pump in the fuel system that pressurized the fuel system, i had tried a new gas cap and that was just a waste of 30 bucks. I dont remember the official name of my problem ill see if i can look it up
Found my thread on it, it was called a DTM pump...now idk if that is whats wrong with yours but that was my issue. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=375690 |

My engine service light is different, I smashed on the gas to pass this idiot on the left lane and the engine service light came on and the car began to vibrate and if I gave it more gas it vibrated the engine I think or at least it appears to be. If I didn't gave it too much gas the light goes away. Anybody knows what it could be?

I used to get that all the time when I had the AFE CAI on. I have an ODBII (and if you are into cars this is a must own tool) and the error kept coming up as "engine running rich bank 2". I would clear the code and it would come back a few weeks later; once I removed the CAI I never got it again.
