No Radio, SOS Malfunction
2006 325i with Alpine Professional radio, TCU1.5 with BT.
I've been noticing the radio display fades when it's hot outside. Lately I parked the car outside under the sun for a number of days when it was really hot. After few days in the sun the radio lost power and I got the no-SOS warning. I read many posts that talked about bypassing components on the fiber optic bus using a loop, but mine only has the TCU and the radio on that bus, so I figured the source of the light is the radio itself (Head Unit). Took the radio out and hooked it to 12V - the display is completely dead and the power and rune buttons don't work, but the CD player eject button works as I hear the motor running. Has anyone run into this issue and was able to fix the radio? I am thinking of replacing the whole radio instead of mucking with internal parts. The radio is $800 new and $100-$150 on eBay.
