no issues at all. I downloaded an app called Tasker ($2.99) to start the tablet and run MHD when the car turns on, then close MHD when the car turns off. The MHD app its self has an option to start in Monitor (gauges) mode, so now its completely automated. This is the tablet I purchased second hand from another member. Looks to be discontinued so i would try ebay.

Now to work out a mounting solution. I've also purchased 90* ended USB cables.

So the left cable is the USB of the ELM cable that plugs into the OBD2 and the right cable charges the tablet?

Didn't know that android devices could pick up the usb drivers for the ELM cables nicely, glad if it does.

yes. left is OBD2 right is charge.
I picked up USB cables with 90* ends to clean it up. Ill post a pic later.
One issue ive found in the last couple weeks. If this isnt your daily driver, the tablet will die. in my case about 5 days. Im going to try to task in a low power shutoff. at 20%.

I'd love bluetooth capability, too many cables to keep floating around.

....semantics

Bluetooth...wifi...whatever removes the cable. I'm sure that was understood.

Wifi range is huge compared to BT and it is faster, and you can still be connected VIA BT to the car or other things. Not really semantics, it's different technology.

Doesn’t matter if it’s Bluetooth or WiFi, it’s been years and most have just written it off and moved on.

WiFi is coming... I don't have an ETA yet, but should start seeing more information on it soon.

What would be the purpose? Connect MHD from 300 feet away? Isn't data transfer via BT sufficient?

Either one is fine, BT used to have latency issues but that's not the case anymore given the right hardware.

In any case, great to hear a solution is being worked on, even if there is no commit date yet.

Most have moved on to what? Bootmod and the other offerings are hardly good in terms of their BT adapters and so I would say it is better to release something that works right rather than be like others and release a half assed product just for the sake of saying you did it first.

It has been in development for a long time and there was a problem with the adapter manufacturer so they had to start over with a new manufacturer, but they have been updating and it is close to being released.

Sufficient yes, but for larger files wifi is better and faster. As for more technical differences, I am sure Martial has more reasons for choosing wifi over BT.

Wifi also enables apple phones. They cant use cable or Bluetooth. That helps people like me who dont want to carry two devices around. Bluetooth would be nice for the current tablets

I have an Android device I bought just for this. I'd love to be able to leave that in the glovebox and just throw my phone on the dash if I need to pull a code real quick or do a quick datalog, so i like the wifi idea.

Just setup a mount with wireless charger and you can use any device that's supports wireless charge.
