Lawyer up & try to plea "Unsafe Driving". In NJ, you get to use 2 of these (when you use one, it takes 2 yrs of nice driving to get them back). It's a higher court fee, but you get spared points on your license & there won't be an insurance spike

Then after you pay all that off, look to buy a radar of some sort -- V1, 9500ix or K40

NJ has some kind of law that let'a lawyers view all the recent violation information, which they use to market to potential customers. In a week or so, you'll get a few mailings from lawyers because of this. Call and interview them - tell them everything and see what they say, go with whoever you're comfortable with (I'd go with anyone that knows the officer on a personal basis).

I think you're 1200 guess is probably close to your total with lawyer fees and court fees, you'll here different numbers and have to choose between them.

good luck and keep us posted!!!

I really jacked up a car (not my BMW) back in December & got 5 tickets(?) for it. What I did was found a lawyer who was very familiar & close with the prosecutor for the municipal court, got all the tickets lowered, used up my remaining "Unsafe Driving" plea & paid ~$1k in court fees + then another $500 for my lawyer.

IMO, that's the BEST course of action: find a lawyer who's familiar with the court system & if you're lucky, knows the prosecutor for whatever court you're getting tried at. If you're driving record is "clean", you'll probably get everything brought done & possibly dismissed if you trade for a court fine.

Just me, I'd rather fork over a bunch of change + put it behind me then deal with raised insurance premiums & carrying points on my license.

for some one thats flyer than me you aren't smarter than me.

go get a lawyer, pay your court costs and fines, better than insane insurance on your car.

and seriously, get a radar detector, slow the fuck down, and take it to the track.

Probably wont work but you need to make sure the radar gun was certified and tested recently. A good lawyer will obviously know this, unless the cop paced you and didnt shoot you with a gun.

Good luck...but at the least you should be able to get it knocked down some

GL -- I've had pretty good luck, but I've only dealt with local PD. Not sure how State Troopers handle these things

You definitely need a radar detector alongside with some laser jammers. But please do not get K40s.

Good luck at the courthouse!
