Looking for reputable worker or shop in NoVA area

I'm looking for a reputable member or indy shop to get valve cover replaced on n54 in the NoVA area. Torn between just getting the gasket replaced or paying for the entire assembly..

I have a 2011, 335is e93 n54. Hoping for some recommendations that won't charge ridiculously for what seems to be a 4–5-hour job. Willing to pay cash if that helps.

Have you found a shop? If not, how far are you willing to travel?

I have not found a shop yet! Still on the hunt, I'm open to drive an hour or so to save some $$$. Why do you ask?

Check out RRT Automotive in Sterling, VA.

Have worked with 3 other indys plus dealership, by far the best I've found with very fair pricing.

I'be heard good things about GT Peace and RRT as well. Actually from my shop, Loco Exotics. It's a samll community, these guys all collaborate and share information. Even about customers that are a pain in the ass or unreasonable

GT Peace in Chantilly. One of the most reliable in the area. My son brings his 2018 Porsche there, and I bring my 2007 BMW e90 MT n54 there, too.

I just had my valve cover gasket assembly replaced. Tech pointed out frayed lines, so I replaced them, as well. They are very thorough. One of the owners used to work at BMW of Sterling, where I purchased my vehicle, so I have known him for at least 15 years. They also honor BMW CCA member discounts.

They are really good people and car guys that won't BS you.

Not sure how I feel about Auto Scandia, they were my original Indy of choice but the same maintenance issues would come up, what felt like every year or every other visit to the shop. Yeah, I cant disagree that Auto Scandia is by no means a "bargain", even if less expensive than the dealer. I had my water pump and t-stat replaced, and almost choked at the cost (was in a jam and didn't have time to fix it myself). I felt they did good work for me, but next time I need a mechanic for something major, I'll probably look for another indy.

Recommend GT Peace as well. Been there for a few major overhauls, including oil pan gasket recently. Fair prices for most things, no issues with their work.

I did the valve cover replacement myself. I'd recommend just replacing the cover at the same time, mainly because it was really hard to get the cover off and I'm not sure how I didn't crack it during the removal process. Definitely heard some bad noises, but no oil leaks since the swap, so it must be ok.

Nice I'm curious, about how much the oil pan gasket cost you at GT Peace? I ended up doing the valve cover replacement myself. I did an URO valve cover with a BMW Genuine Gasket. It's been leak free for the past two days so hoping it holds up!

Used to use them 20 years ago when I used to live in NoVa. Little out of the way but was worthwhile.

Sorry for the late response. Oil pan gasket was a grand. Seems expensive, but I've read its a 7+ hour DIY job and I don't have the engine support or the patience to drop my whole front subframe.

I'd recommend getting other things done at the same time like engine mounts that also require the subframe drop.
