That won't work. The iGo license is bound to the exact SD card serial number so a generic SD card with a bunch of files wouldn't suffice.

Your problem. The unit works beautifully, apart from a few very minor software bugs.

There's pre loaded SD cards for sale on the J&T site, how do they work?

Its the licensed version of iGo that comes with the units. Ours have US maps, you should probably be talking to the UK or one of the European distributors about purchasing a replacement if you do not have the original.

I was trying to avoid having to pay another £100 on top for something that should have come with the unit anyway plus the fact I can get a perfectly good SatNav app on my phone for free just means I wont get to experience all the features of the N6, which is a shame.

Yes that was my first port of call but he said he'd never used it and had no idea where it was.
Do you think this will work?

Also, the N6 manual states 'It can be used with almost any Windows based navigation on it'.
It says if you want to use your own software and not Igo then set the Navigation Path accordingly but that seems to be locked on mine. It's asking for MobileNavigator/MobileNavigator.exe and whatever I try it wont let me change that. I've done a factory reset and updated the software and still the NavPath is locked and cannot be changed.
Surely there must be a way to change it?

Worth to try:
- could you rename the exe file at MobileNavigator/MobileNavigator.exe
- if you can, then I would do that and then place the exe for the nav you want use and name it MobileNavigator.exe

Sorry, I don't have this system. But just an idea.

Tried that, doesn't work.
Thanks though.

Not sure, Dynavin comes with iGO 8 and the ad is for iGO9. Not to mention that the price looks suspiciously low...

The older models used to have internal mics but we found them too problematic compared to the external mics, so Dynavin removed them on newer builds.
That's a showstopper for me....

Is this the most up to date info on using the org mic?

thanks

MisterSitter, Ive been trying to stay out of this but you should know that what you are asking for and what you are posting links for is software piracy....you may not realize that (or maybe you do! ) but for future readers of this thread its important that I clarify what is actually going on here. If you want to do this the legitimate way you should contact a dealer in your country and ask them if they can supply you with a licensed iGo. If you explain the situation and ask nice maybe they would be willing to send you a card for near whatever their cost is plus shipping.

Not sure you interpreted that post correctly....it was not about using the BMW mic, it was about the dynavin having a mic built into its face.

Virtually all stereos use an external mic for Bluetooth (except maybe some of the cheap knock offs?). The current mic is a small black plastic dome, it does not really look like anything to most people, put it where convenient and its unlikely anyone will ever notice it.

That's why I was asking, I wasn't sure if it was legit or not. All I'm trying to do is get my SatNav working without having to spend loads of money so I'll try your suggestion and contact my dealer again, although I did explain the situation last time and was quoted £85+shipping which is just way too much for me.
Thanks for your help, it's appreciated.
The real issue here and cause of all this bother is the fact that I can't change the NavPath and just use any Windows based navigation just like the manual tells me I can.
Do you know why this is?

No, sorry, we only use the iGo that it comes with, I have not messed around with alternate programs for years. Long before the current versions.

It would be interesting to know if the problem is with my unit or if it's supposed to be that you only get to choose software once and that's it, you can never change your mind.

Is there a changelog available for the latest N7 firmware update (1.0.5.1)?

You should be able to change the file path. I think its more likely that you have an issue with the card reader not seeing the card.

Not officially.

But basically its a cumulative release of a bunch of small stuff and ties together what used to be multiple firmware versions for different cars into one single firmware. From our end its much cleaner as all the different models are now on the same firmware.

As far as I've seen there is no reason to not update to this version.

Thank you very much for your answer.

I have already upgraded and I cannot see any difference from 1.0.4 (which is not necessarily bad). Unfortunately all the bugs I previously reported are still present and my language (Italian) is still missing.

Actually I discovered another bug in 1.0.4: if you're copying a file from the SD to the internal HDD and you put in reverse (so that the back camera kicks in), the copy fails. I have yet to see if in 1.0.5.1 this bug is fixed, though.

Not big differences between 1.0.4 and 1.0.5, mostly behind the scenes.
